Selesnya is getting so many good cards! I know who I want to play for the Prerelease. Dang. What a straight house! I can see that card being played across a variety of formats, standard, modern, maybe even legacy in the right deck. Whoa. This makes Zoo a lot more crazy than it already was! I love this card so much, and Selesnya isn't even my favorite guild, or my second, or my third. But you can guarantee this card will see play.
The tokens generated by voice do not have their P/T pegged when they enter the battlefield, but instead are based on the total number of creatures at any time, like a Crusader of Odric or Scion of the Wild. If you have nothing but a voice and mana dork on the field, and someone kills the voice at instant speed on your turn, you get 2 tokens, one from them casting a spell, one from it dying, and have a dork and 2x 3/3 tokens.
In practical terms, what the voice says is that its a resilient hatebear, one that can't be easily removed and will eat one killspell at sorcery speed like INN's undying mechanic in many ways- it will likely come back as a 2/2 or 3/3 or 4/4- and while it stays on the field, it serves as a powerful anti-control dissuader, saying your opponent can't cast spells on your turn without really bad stuff happening.
Its way, way too efficient for what it does. At 3 cmc it probably wouldn't even be worth noticing, but as a bear slot, its vicious creep
Voice is just pure value. Or at the least, limits you to playing removal on your turn to limit the number of tokens they get.
Putrefy woohoooo time to go see how many I have hoarded.

So, as per the article, Voice of Resurgence was explicitely made by Development as a hoser to Flash decks. And they decided to put it at Mythic. Cute money grab here.
Well, if only we had an ability, a mechanic if you would, that allowed for the continuation of tokens past their initial creator. A procreater mind you, a breeder for the populous...

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
Voice being mythic is absolutely ridiculous. Getting sick and tired of staple cards being mythic rare. And the trend of printing amazing hosers for non-aggro decks continues.
Oh well, the return of Putrefy makes me giddy. I really thought we were going to go the whole block without seeing classic throwbacks. Come on Mortify and Lightning Helix.

We still have only seen 1 card spoiled for Dimir, and that was our champion. This is getting old.
Boros only has one...and it is wear/tear which is a sideboard card. Wouldn't it make since all dimir cards be kept secret except for its champion? He is running in a maze with the other guilds. It would have been cooler if he wasn't even spoiled yet adding to their secret ways. Boros however I wonder why they have straid away from spoiling any of their cards.
I was sad they didn't reprint Putrefy and printed Puterfy... oh wait. The versatile removal is back! Strictly better than doing Murder unless you aren't doing green.

I am also hoping for a reprint of Lightning Helix, hopefully with new art. I own the other three arts, so it would be fun to use a playset of all different arts.
And now my decision to keep the Selesnya deck I built at the RtR prerelease is completely justified. VoR is sickhouse. Definitely getting a playset no matter what the cost, and I do not say that very often.
I like Council of the Absolute, but it feels like they were trying a little too hard to recreate Augustin. Still though, that thing is going to be in every single Geist deck from here to Timbuktu.

Cheeseburger, french fries, chocolate shake, somebody's mind I's about to take!
You know when they spoil cards like baneslayer or thragtusk, that its so blatantly obvious how pushed and powerful they are? I'm gettin that feeling again with the voice. I'm glad I don't competitively though, having to pay for competitive mythic like this is something I don't have the cash for. I like the art though, someone else here mentioned it has a quality similar to OLD card illustrations. Its nice to see such a simple illustration on such an absurd card.
but AAAAAAARGGGGG!!!
It pleases me so much that thery brought back putrefy! my favorite killspell of all time!

a small sentence for you to read while you ignore my post.
Hopefully with the reprint of Puterfy, we'll get some other solid reprints to help flesh out the format....like Electrolyze, Mortify, A Balanced Vindicate.

But seriously, I'd like to be able to play a control deck and not just a flash deck with 4x revelation jammed into it :/

I think its more to limit combos with the -2 to the casting cost and preventing the opponent from playing it.
I mean they just made Nevermore very recently and it allows you to name anything but land.
