I was starting to worry, is this the first spoiled card with a guild keyword? I started to fear they'd dropped the keywords for some reason.
In other news, she's awesome . . . love the artwork too.
I like her, maybe this will finally get me to play a red deck for once.
You ought to polish up on your card evaluating skills, friend. Exava
and Hellrider perform two very different roles in combat.
With hellrider, you want to wait until you have a fair amount of dudes
out to get maximum benefit.
* Hellrider has no evasion
* Hellrider has haste
* He has a 3/3 body for 4
* Good on its own, fantastic when you have a horde of minions with it
* If you are attacking, you had better have another copy in your hand
to replace this one or it had better be an alpha swing
With Exava, she becomes a threat right out of the gates regardless
as to how many creatures you control.
* Exava has no evasion, but she has first strike
* Exava has haste
* She is a 4/4 for 4 unleashed
* Fantastic on her own and greatly complements minions with unleash
or creatures you control with +1/+1 counters on them (undying and
stuff)
* Be as aggressive as you want!
With Exava, you can be as aggressive as you want because a 4/4 for
4 first strike and haste is going to rip apart any other creature at the
time she hits the field. Hellrider's effectiveness is conditional, and you
attacking most times means someone is going to 1-for-1 it. Exava's
unique interaction with +1/+1 counters is a complement to a beefy
card instead of something you must lean on to win.
I don't like her, but she is good. Obligatory four mana red haste creature for the block. Will likely replace Hellrider when it rotates, unless they also print a non legendary or mono red one. The card doesn't have the Rakdos flair I expected from it though, which considering the art, is quite disappointing.

Lycanthropy Awareness Day.
Hoping for a cure, or at least an outbreak.
I don't really see the appeal of this card. Sure 4/4 with haste and first strike will be cool. But she isn't as big a finisher for rakdos aggro as desecration demon, and she would be awkward in a rakdos midrange deck, since there aren't many big creatures with unleash. So I don't see where she is meant to be played.
I doubt she'll be played competitively.
EDIT: I'm talking about block, in standard she's even more unplayable. Would you really trade your hellrider or falknrath aristocrat for her in an aggressive deck?
If MTG is a part of your life, the formats are like relationships:
Standard/Block = The on-again, off-again holiday fling
Modern/Vintage/Legacy = Stable, homely. A ***** after absence/misreading
Limited/Sealed = Heart breaking free spirit
Commander/Cube = Agreeable, needy and expensive
Pauper/Peasant = Sweet, kind, practical, but shy and boring
I wish my 4/4s with haste and first strike that acted as Goblin Warchiefs were better and didn't die to instants and overshadowed all other 4 drops in the format. And that they had evasion too, and some way to dodge wrath effects.

Someday, I will own all of the dragons. All of them. 43/111, approximately 39% complete. Over a third done.

LOL the fact that you just put her and Deso demon in the same sentence makes me think you don't play much magic.
The effect could prove so discombobulating to combo players, in particularly, they may fizzle and run away screaming. "From that day the Curse of the Plateau was upon me, and I found every hand I ever pull from a combo deck is a mulligan."

Sure, the art is incredible, but Ruric Thar seems to be the most powerful DGM guild legend spoiled so far. I'm not impressed by Exava from an EDH perspective.
I'm curious if the fervor ability will be enough for R/B to run more unleash guys (chainwalker, flailer) but even if not this will still see some play. probably fringe in standard until aristocrat rotates as the aristocrat's resilience against wrath-effects is significant, but it does go toe-to-toe with most of the big baddies on standard and come out on top (geist, thragtusk, smiter, aristocrat, & huntmaster to name a few).
Harder to compare the two: while they're both hasty (basically) 4-power four-drops for aggressive Rakdos decks, the "ping for one" isn't directly comparable to "everyone has haste!" (assuming you run a reasonable amount of scavenge/evolve/undying/UNLEASH) the same way we could compare Hellrider to Hero of Oxid Ridge. I would agree that I can't really imagine playing her over Hellrider, and probably wouldn't play her over Aristocrat either...but those card's days are numbered and Exava will be in standard much longer. Plus, we don't know if we'll be getting any more tasty unleashers in this set (I could see us getting a 2/1 lifelink unleash for :symb::symb: that would be pretty nice to grant haste, for instance). So Exava is effectively worse in the metagame as it exists now, but definitely not "infinitely worse".

1) Able to kill a blocking Thragtusk and live? Check.
2) Able to kill a blocking Restoration Angel and live? Check.
3) Able to kill a blocking Vampire Nighthawk and live? Check.
4) Pretty much gives all your other relevant creatures (Stromkirk Noble and Rakdos Cackler) a +1/+1 boost the moment she lands instead of pinging 1 damage for each of them? And the next coming unleashed creature an elephant that can't block at the very least? Why the heck not.
She might not help her familiar, the Cryptborn Horror much, but I know I am making an unleashed deck with her. Not the same witch, my bad.
Edit: Art-wise, she looks like a feminine version of Keldon Warlord, and I like that card.
