Gatecrash card in Ravnica pack at FNM tonight. Simic Fluxmage, uncommon with an ability called "evolve". Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your controls, if that creature has greater power or toughness than this creature, put a +1/+1 counter on this creature.
Breaking news.
There will be no Tibalt, Tamiyo, Tezzeret, Garruk, Chandra, Liliana, mini-Jace, big-Jace, Garruk again, or Sarkhan in Theros either.
There will also be no Black Lotus.
If it is true, its an interesting mechanic, and can snowball pretty well if done right.
Also if its not redundant and there are ways to grant it (or if its # based) it could be awesome, and there's design space like Unleash (If X has a +1/+1 counter on it..)

You could use this to make Unleash creatures unable to block...
I think I like it!
(Obviously that is not gonna be a situation often until RGD drafts!)
Considering the picture is known to be for the Simic but has only been posted on a weird angle with some filters over it. I don't think a "clean" version has been posted anywhere, so if it's a fake, I have no idea where they could have got it.
By the way, I'm talking about this: http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=467570
I'm usually very wary of fakes, but there's nothing that strikes me as odd about this card or the mechanic. (Plus, I wish I can use a monogreen creature with that ability for my Naya Séance deck)
Looks like a real enough mechanic, but I'm curious, does a creature with evolve trigger its ability when it enters the battlefield itself, which then does nothing because its the same P/T? And would that P/T comparison occur both when its triggered and when it resolves? I know other similarly templated abilities used "Whenever another creature or ~ ETB", I never really hear whether it would still trigger for itself without the wonky "another or this" template
Every time I read a mechanic I'm programmed to automatically try to come up with some fantistically silly way to break it, but this one looks like it crossed its i's and dotted its t's

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking, but I believe the answer lies in Sigil Captain's rulings.
Anyone else catch that you could have it in play, then play any 1/1 and in response to the evolve trigger activate the mage to move its +1/+1 counter thus making the other creature larger than it... sounds like sweet synergy.
(edit) If it already had at least one counter that is.

Sorry, but that's not how intervening ifs work. The ability wouldn't trigger at all if the creature was smaller than Fluxmage.

No you can't. The ability won't even trigger if the creature enters with equal or less power than is.
I love how it kinda works out with Simic's old keyword, graft. Oh, any creature with a +1/+1 counter can do x? might as well use it on my biggest dude I played on the third turn.

Doesn't prove its not, just adds evidence it might not be there's a difference.

Seems legit to me. As a Johnny, I approve of this card.
The odds of this happening twice are pretty crazy though.
Big thanks to Rivenor for the sig!!
There is buried treasure everywhere...in a graveyard.
Unless they did it on purpose. It would seem like a good and creative way to refresh the whole spoilers thingy.
Also, note that the Evolve mechanic is from the Great Designer Search 2.

Fits well with simic and I can definitely see some interesting things with that.

Feel free to tell me yours!
The uncommon one-drop cycle was a RTR thing. It isn't reappearing in GTC.
Of course, that doesn't preclude the possibility of a U/G one-drop hybrid. I wouldn't assume it, though.
