Well ya, since people don't understand, for some reason, that FNM promos aren't meant to be a strictly spike affair. Remember when people were whining about lightning greaves being an FNM promo?
Nothing in this game is degenerate or completely dominant. They haven't banned anything in standard in a long, long time. Hell they should have banned affinity right away, but they didn't until boxed sales collapsed too. Hasbro had to come in and fire people.
I'll enjoy watching all the whiners eat crow monday.
Unless the artwork is insane I'd probably still use the NPH Foils since the foil Phyrexian Symbol looks absolutely ridiculous. This is definitely one of the better promo's they've released tho. I'd probably rather have one of these than the Goblin Guides they're giving away at GP's.
Also, I don't know anyone who prefers IA Brainstorm to MM. The MM art is one of my favorites. I prefer cleaner art tho, rather than flashy, overloaded stuff.

Again, this is opinion. It's why they hire different artists for the game.
yeah I know its opinion, I just really hate the normal art.
However Bloodbraid elf fnm demand was really high, so its art certainly didn't hurt its value. I can think of a few fnm cards were this was a case (anathemancer for example was printed when it was seeing play but no one valued to promo heavily because 99% of the community prefered the original art)
In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck ********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like this to occur and validate you.
The desirability of this promo over the normal will depend completely on its art. If the art sucks then it won't matter if it is shiny or not people will still value, collect, and play the original ones over it. Here is hoping it is good art though as they have been on a role recently.
Come on, the card name is Dismember. No matter what way you cut it (snicker), we ain't getting a gore-fest like the card deserves. The semi-abstract nature of Terese Nielsen's artwork allowed her to get away with some sort of gruesomeness. I don't think we can expect the same outcome in a more photo-realist style.

If the violence is an issue, I think the thing that lets her get away with it has more to do with the fact that it depicts a Mirrian - which are metallic, than any description.
We don't know what the description exactly said, but we can assume that the same description is given to whoever's doing the promo art. That being said, I hope to see more of the phyrexian in the background - as I feel like this is a very iconic card for them.

Well, dismember is already a sought after card - $2 for an uncommon is rather high. I imagine a foil version (assuming it has decent art) will go for $5+ or so.
I hope to get some of these in April. I am not sure though these are hot!! I usually get some FNM promos for playing in the modern or legacy tournaments. They may hog them all for profit!!! Doubtful!!
I'm getting kinda antsy - anyone know about when we should expect to find out the art on this? This is the first FNM card I'd actually have a use for, in a long time.

Steve Arglye's BBE art is amazing, especially when you put it next to the original art.
Who's eating crow?
seriously, how could anyone prefer the normal art to Arglye's?

Not in the age of digital art, but again, not all artists do digital art.

Please tell me you're joking. That's three pieces and change EVERY DAY for three months straight, with no time for revision or back-and-forth.

Yeah, as a digital artist I'd be amazed if someone could churn that out for two blocks+Core set+extras.
The most popular of the artists generally have at most 20 pieces of artwork per block. The rest usually have 5 or 6.

Your original comment was that the FNM promo suffered from "bad art" is another opinion as well. Minority opinion, most likely, but opinion, sure.
Who's eating crow?
Most sought after, maybe, but most expensive, no.
I figured a foil German would be the most sought after myself.

This has been said in every thread I've read about FNM promo's since I started playing. Lol.
