Just a thought: doesn't it seem that, flavor-wise, Evolving Wilds is a bit of a stretch for Innistrad? I mean... I don't see their 'wilds' as really changing that much, especially not in the radical way that Zendikar's do.
My guess would be they wanted the card in the block and didn't want to make a third functionally identical version.

When you peer long enough through the depths, the depths peer also through you.
The greatest thing about this reprint is the vastly improved artwork.
Well, that was quick.
Anyway, I agree it's an improvement aesthetically. It looks more like a green land destruction spell than wilds evolving though (the big scary building doesnt really feel wild, for one thing). The original at least illustrated the idea better IMO.
People who say Evolving Wilds doesn't fit the flavor haven't read Grimm's fairy tales. It is a trope of spooky stories that when you go into the forest, it changes behind you and you get lost.
The flavor's a BIT of a stretch, but my GOD, that artwork. Innistrad Block has the best artwork for lands I've ever seen. Not to mention, it's nice to have this effect back. It was...weird not having a terramorphic expanse effect available.
Oh my god oh my god oh my god I'm so happy I could cry.
And holy man, that artwork is breathtaking. Also, I agree that it fits the flavor fine. Very different flavor-wise than Zenkiar's Evolving Wilds, but the idea of nature itself opposing civilization (as opposed to chaotic, plane-warping magic everywhere) still works for me. And agreed on the Grimm tales tie-in.

these will never go away, they are designed well and are necessary.
while i agree, i thought the core sets existed to provide these generic staples. block is obviously a different story, but the blocks become formulaic with so many "necessary reprints".

I think that this is really needed for draft so that non green decks can get some color fixing since there is a bigger multicolor push this set.

You could try to find block-related alternatives, but it would amount to the same thing, so why mess with a good thing?
I take everything back. The flavor makes a lot of sense (humans retreat from the fringes, monstrous territory takes over), and the art is beautiful. 4 Foils please.

Assuming they reprint Goyf, they could make it uncommon if they really wanted to. It's not like it would break limited or anything. I'm just not sure they'd want to drive its price into the ground for all of time. Shocks could be uncommon, too. It's not like dual lands are going to warp limited.
