It's okay on offense and great on defense, and powerful in any meta with lots of combat. Turns any General into a wincon, protects itself, and even provides sac fodder. Any deck running Godo, Bandit Warlord should strongly consider it.
Good in any creature-heavy deck, especially one that can take advantage of its huge stats. Can get absurdly large sometimes. Another one that turns any General into a wincon.
Mostly for a deck like Kresh the Bloodbraided, where it especially shines. It's nice because it's a free pump that doubles as a free, reusable, sorcery-speed sac outlet. Could be good in something like Xiahou Dun since the General is small and evasive and you can abuse things like Grave Pact. Savra, Queen of the Golgari likes it in decks where she wants the option of attacking.
Very mana-friendly way to turn your 6/6 General into a 2-shotter. Great with any of the 10 Primeval Dragons, and can be found with Shred Memory and Muddle the Mixture when you're ready to go on a killing spree.
for underplayed, i'll say Basilisk Collar. i held off a huge omnath from one shotting me with collar on my Eternal Witness! and it turns creatures with first strike into 'Wall of Come at me Bro!'

Not sure if this was mentioned, but Kusari doesn't work the way you think it does. Deathtouch does nothing extra when Kusari is involved as Kusari does the damage, not the creature. Same goes for infect / wither.
I have to agree here. Trailblazer Boots and Mask of Riddles have been key components to multiple decks of mine. Loved them. Infiltration Lens also has its moments.
Neko-Te. This card has stopped multiple Voltron decks at my table and can really give advantage. I almost dropped this from my deck and ended up being too lazy to swap it out before the EDH game. Ended up saving me from a 20 something power and toughness Uril and eventually winning the game for me.
The only one I can think of offhand to add is Nemesis Mask. Giving some useless creature Lure while all your better stuff charges in for damage is pretty good.
Does Nim Deathmantle count as a staple? I don't think I've ever seen anyone but me play it. I hear it's good with Ashnod's Altar.
In my play group nim deathmantle is a staple. I replaced my boots with it when it first came out. Late game boots doesn't do much but the deathmantle can save you from a boardwipe. Plus I hear its good with clones and legendary creatures on the battlefield.
Most of my gems have been said as well, but I have to add the M13 Rings to the list as well.
I especially like Ring of Thune. It appears so innocuous, but as the game goes on, your miniature utility creatures can get quite disturbing, and Vigilance is surprisingly effective in EDH.
Runechanter's Pike - For decks heavy on instants and sorceries Leering Emblem - For decks that have a low cmc, with or without mana reducers, and can play a ton of spells in one turn ...frequently

Deathmantle is a game-winner with any number of creatures. It's a staple for sure.

Konda's Banner is good on the right type of general (usually one with a lot of creatures that share a type with it; it can also be used in token-heavy decks).

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Blade of the Bloodchief is actually pretty solid. Lots of things die all the time in EDH. I also love Lashwrithe in mono-black. It's a large beater that subsequently makes your commander scarier.

Blade is SOOOO close to being unbelievable. But outside of Ghave the creature that usually dies is the one with the blade on it
I've been considering playing Hammer of Ruin as of late... I've been enjoying Neko-Te in my Kumano deck.

The other equipment named above may not be on one of our "list o' staples", but they're hardly underplayed or undiscovered. Batterskull practically defined a Standard archetype, and didn't lose any power when changing formats. Lashwrithe (and its older cousin, Nightmare Lash) are, frankly, no-brainers.
That last sentence makes me think you must be trolling. But just in case you're serious, there are far, far better cards than Razor Boomerang to serve its purpose. Thornbite Staff is an excellent example, or Viridian Longbow.
Diviner's Wand. Any deck that likes drawing should love this card. There is nothing like swinging with Azami for lethal.
The entire Tribal Equipment cycle has some nice perks. Being able to auto-equip on ETB is very helpful, especially when it comes to things like blink effects or recovering from a sweeper (Wrath->Faith's Reward->Equip Veteran's Armaments again for free? :D)
Not that it's ever been relevant to me personally, but the Tribal Equipment can also be attached to another player's creature with the triggered ability. There's possibility there for politicking (or actual team vs. team games).

Save you from a board wipe when you have 4 mana open. Aside from putting it in to combo with Ashnod's Altar, I've been dropping it. Mostly because someone in my playgroup happily points out whenever I lose a creature with it on the table and don't have 4 mana open. My favorite use of it was with Phyrexian Arena and Kokusho, the Evening Star. But again, that was part of the deck's plan rather than a 'this is a good card, I'll put it in my deck' situation.
I think it's definitely good, but you have to make sure it fits with your game plan as opposed to seeing it as a staple.
The key is to stick them on Ashling the Pilgrim. Why just wipe the field when you can steal it permanently and repeatedly without paying general tax on Ashling?
They're pretty well known, but the Kaldra artifacts are pretty great. The sword can turn anything in to a beat-stick or turn a pinger into an exiling madhouse.
Then there's good old' Empyrial plate. I've had times where I go turn 2 Stalker, turn 3 plate, equip, then go to town.
Shield of the Righteous is hard to respect until you play with it a little bit. The combination of abilities all work out to make something moderately useful.
I just gotta say that Vorrac Battlehorns is an amazing card when you're going the full blown voltron route. I play it in my Rafiq deck and it is my second fav equipment. I've seen people laugh at it....until they realized it made him usually kill faster than many of the swords.
"Some of the other guys dared me to go out, but I knew it weren't no ordinary giant giga-blasting blaze of unending flames that would scorch the whole world."

I have yet to see anyone in my meta run Sword of Light and Shadow, I can't figure out why. Protects from the two heaviest spot removal colors while putting a dude back in your hand and gaining you life, plus if the equipped creature dies, as long as you got in a hit first you still have a dude in your hand to equip it to.

Good in any creature-heavy deck, especially one that can take advantage of its huge stats. Can get absurdly large sometimes. Another one that turns any General into a wincon.
Sigil of Distinction
If you have access to evasive creatures and a large mana pool, this can start taking people out pretty quickly.
Grafted Wargear
Mostly for a deck like Kresh the Bloodbraided, where it especially shines. It's nice because it's a free pump that doubles as a free, reusable, sorcery-speed sac outlet. Razor Boomerang
Takes out annoying creatures such as Merieke Ri Berit, Royal Assassin, and Weathered Wayfarer, gives you a way to tap things like Gilder Bairn without entering combat, and can return to your hand at instant speed to give you a bad card to sacrifice to something like Sword of Feast and Famine. Is especially good on a Storm Crow.

EDH
I especially like Ring of Thune. It appears so innocuous, but as the game goes on, your miniature utility creatures can get quite disturbing, and Vigilance is surprisingly effective in EDH.
I'll also add that any Commander that interacts with their +1+1 counters should be running their appropriate rings, like Skullbriar, the walking grave, Vish Kal, blood Arbiter, and Animar, soul of elements.
Does not work. Kusari-Gama does the damage, not the creature.

Agree on the Rings. I've been running Ring of Evos Isle in my Sun Quan deck, and it's been pretty good. Ring of Xathrid has been quite good as well in my Commander Greven il-Vec sketch.
And yeah, Runechanter's Pike is trash. I'd never be caught dead one-shotting people with a flying pair of Izzet Wizards.XD
If you have the mana for it, Argentum Armor is nice.
Unblockable creatures, or creatures with pro-creatures, or Cho-Manno, Revolutionary, can use Inquisitor's Flail.
Doran loves things like Accorder's Shield, Spidersilk Net, and Bonehoard.
