Recently in theState of the Cube Forum thread some people were receptive to the idea of having a subforum specifically for the purpose of cube lists. I just wanted to see what the community reaction was to this idea when given a clear yes or no vote. Note that the creation of a cube list sub forum would come at the cost of the "projects" subforum which would all be dumped into the main thread. Vote now. Because voting will close in a week.

i will be really, really upset if the cube lists are banished to a subforum. and i think the projects being dumped back into the main forum makes no sense. just putting that out there.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.

Why? Things like the cube comparison thread or the rankings when they start up are more useful in the main thread then people's lists.
because it will reduce the amount of feedback people get in their threads. some things don't make much sense being posted in the main threads, or fall by the wayside. if i'm planning an elaborate update, posting it in full in the card discussion thread doesn't make much sense.
and projects make much more sense having their own space since those involved will naturally seek them out. i think individual cubes are the best part of this forum. i don't want to bury them out of sight.

We have a pretty active community, which I think will still pop their heads in the cube list forum. And if it doesn't work, we can always go back...

I think you're alone in that. I read cube threads from time to time, but that's definitely not why I come here.

I agree with qq on this I think the majority of people coming in here for the first time are not coming for the projects they come for lists or to post their lists for assitance also the projects forum moves so much slower than the "lists" section
I'd like a place where all people's cube lists are gathered together, but I wouldn't like that place to be in a sub-forum, for the reasons qq listed.
Why not do exactly the reverse? Keep the main forum for the current stickies and the cube lists. Everything else goes in a (single) sub-forum. This way, people's cubes will be at the forefront, and it's also clearer what should go in the sub-forum. I had a look at the list Eidolon posted, and personally I wouldn't mind if these were in a sub-forum, except for the stickies.

I voted yes, but I don't think it's a matter of it being a yes/no situation. Yes, I think we should have a forum devoted to cube lists alone. No, I don't think it should be a subforum. I think the subforum should be for all other discussion and the main forum should be reserved for cube lists. I think the mods should move any and all non cube list discussion to a general discussion subforum, not the other way around. That makes a lot more sense to me. When someone clicks "Cube Forum" to enter our neck of the woods, they're probably not coming here to read cube discussion or check out what basic lands we're all running, so much as they're coming here to look at lists and get ideas. So the main forum should be cube lists and only cube lists. The subforum should be everything else: projects, official threads, card evaluation, proxy thread, etc.

I like this idea more than the proposed one. I also just want to point out that qq and Kojiro aren't the only ones who feel that way.
i would be fine with the cube lists being the main forum and the rest being a subforum. we will all seek out the other threads in the subforum, and i think the individual lists are the core of the forum.

This is 100% the way I feel. I normally check both forums anyway, but I'd say that there are a lot more lurkers than actual posters in these forums. I'd like to keep it that way and I think the best way to do that is to keep the main forum clean with only cube list threads.

That's suprising to me. Things like Eidolon's cube comparison thread and the rankings are far more useful in figuring out what to add to a new cube user than just looking at lists. Lists in and of themselves provide very little of value, I think. The discussions they generate are valuable, but those are also valuably found in the discussion threads.

I like this idea a lot. People will see the lists, people will seek out the threads and activity will probably not be changed a lot. Personally, though, I don't mind an awful lot, so long as there stops being so much overlap between what's posted in different forums (Projects really isn't limited to projects at all, and is more discussion than the main forum, while some threads in the main forum (eg a half-finished theme cube looking for help) could easily have been posted in the projects forum). I really dislike this overlap as it means that people have to go to both forums to do pretty much the exact same thing (I know that an extra tab can kill me :p) rather than cube lists to give and receive advice and the other forum for discussion, which are really two entirely different things.
I would prefer that all cube lists are on their own sub-forum and all other content will be located in the main forum. That makes more sense to me, I will see all the activity in the forum by logging in to the main forum and when I have time/need to browse lists I can go to sub forum.
I don't cast my vote on the poll since for me this question is not an y/n case.
Like many people stated currently projects subforum isn't clear - what should go in there and so on. I have missed many good topics because they are hidden there and I usually just browse the main forum daily.

I like the idea of the lists being in a subforum. To combat the problem of less people frequenting each persons list, could we implement a sticky where people post (in a thread) the changes they made to their cube? It could be called the "Cube Update Thread" or something of that nature. At that point, you could either go the route of having the rules of the thread be:
1. A full and detailed explanation of your updates
2. A brief explanation of your updates
3. Simply the word "Updated".
There shouldn't be any actual conversation done about the updates on the thread, just one of the above options. Since most people have their cube linked in their sig, it shouldn't be a problem to follow it to the posters thread. Thoughts?

when you say general discussion threads do you mean the card evaluation thread and the cube discussion thread and what else?

i don't think i'm the only one just because you don't read cube threads often. it does look like i'm outnumbered, though.
I am not in favor of the change, but do what you need to do.
