Hi, i made an mtgo account and it popped up with error l0023 and I though it was just something with the acoount so I made a second, same error. Then after some research i saw that aol email accounts(of course the one i use) can have issues recieving the activation request. So I make a third account with my gmail thinking it would go smooth, and ofcourse I try to login, only to find the same error message, error l0023-can't connect to mtgo server... I also was hoping I could just buy a deck and play in the ptq tommorow morning, but I guess not. Please help, with any suggestion.
If you call WotC's Customer Service number they can either resend the activation email or they can just activate the account.
However, accounts only get activated if you actually paid the $10 (and the payment went through).
Here's a description of the facts (and the time spent, so that you can get a basis if you have this same problem):
02/28/2011: I've created my Magic Online account (with an email account from Yahoo.com.br). Payed by PayPal. Waited for activation mail that was not received.
03/02/2011: Tired of waiting for the activation mail, I wrote an email to Wizards of the Coast's Customer Service. On the same day they replied asking for all my information to prove that I was in fact the owner of that account. I gave them the information.
03/03/2011: WotC answered that they had "manually activated" my Magic Online account, and that any problems should be fixed, letting me log in with my username and password, adding that soon I would receive my starter packs. I tried to log in but keeping receiving the message "Error L0023: Unable to connect to the Magic Online server".
03/04/2011: I replied to Customer Service again, telling them of this error, and that I couldn't log in into my Magic Online account.
03/07/2011: Customer Service answered me that my "New Account starter pack" had "just been added to my collection and activated account" (...). I suceeded in logging into my Magic Online account.
So you see, since they claimed (on 03/03) they had already activated my account, maybe this error kept coming up because they had not yet gave me the starter packs of my account, and so I was trying to connect into an "empty" account. This was the explanation that I could get out of this whole week of (forced) pacience...
Gladly all is working fine now.
I hope this can help any other person too.
Bye,
(P.S.: I'm not used to the tools of the forum so... How do I send a PM to the other threadstarters?)
I created a magic online account long ago and I stopped playing for a while... in my absence I got a new computer and reinstalled MTGO. Now when I try to log in it gives me this error (L0023). I had already paid and had my account activated so I do not know what could be the problem.

I'm having the same difficulty, and I've had the account for years.
I was just playing (had just won a 4-3-2-2 draft), and everything locked up. I tried re-logging, and I'm just getting the same l0023 error every time. Looks like something with Wizard's servers.
Im also getting the error despite it MTGOnline saying its "Live"
I came home from work in hopes of finally getting some cards since this would usually be the best time to pick up on singles during release...
Me too. Had Hero of Bladehold in a swiss event. Does anybody know if the cards opened are typically safe during such a crash, or will we lose those?
Cards opened should be fine and should be in your collection. Only prize packs are not rewarded I believe during a crash unless the event was completed.

Were you able to solve it?

I've managed to get this Error L0023 solved.
