MTG Salvation

Looking for peoples opinions on fun Budget decks in Standard. Im not looking for super competitive decks, just decks that win in weird or unusual ways. Fun factor is the most important thing.

Examples: Door to Nothingness, Mill, etc.

Well, depends on what your kind of fun is!

But if you're looking for weird decks, I have a deck that wins through infinte mana -> Infinite draw -> Epic Experiment -> Worldfire on the stack above Pillar of Flame. It's really wonky and I looooove playing it. =)

I'm actually using my deck, Azorius Auras, every once in a while. It's really simple, budget friendly and easy to play with.

Oh, U/G dredge too! Ghoultree for G is quite awesome.

I personally prefer 75 islands. There is nothing than the look on your opponents face once they start trying to play around your counter magic and you know you're sitting on a deck full of islands and nothing else.

It also allows you to board in 15 cards and completely mess with their head between the boarded games.

If you want you can run 54 islands and 6 spells if you want to do something other than draw-go.




However if you wanted a budget deck that has a decent rate of winning matches I'd probably suggesting a red aggro variant since most of the cards in them are relatively cheap.

It's actually Bruna Enchantment Reanimator. Just build a deck built around Ethereal Armor with some more viable enchantments (Oblivion Ring, Curiosity, Tricks of the Trade, etc.), then add Bruna, Light Alabaster. You also need to use creatures that seems to be good once pumped with enchantments, Invisible Stalker or alike.

@kwis Brilliant! and people will ask you between rounds what your playing. and you can be like " oh, nothing crazy, I'm on Islands." It's just too bad theres no 42 lands deck in Standard.

Seriously tho, any body got some oddball deck ideas? We can do some thearycrafting if needed.

Seance combo is fun and can be built for a relatively small amount of money, depending on your card choices. Check the standard deck creation forum.

I guess 4 Lost in the Woods with 56 Forest will also make it in the weird concepts. I just don't think it will ever win unless you plug in some mono green alternate win cons.

I like the defender deck... build around Axebane gaudian.

I play a conjurers closet deck
it can loop cyclonic rifts, fogs, or temporal mastery
using archeomancer

very fun with all the aggro running around.
also runs a few PWS

it is weak vs direct damage. so SB accordingly

@erasmussinclaire he linked to one... also I was thinking of building a defenders deck. With some sort of oddball SB strategy for g2. Seems like good time.

for me, the most fun budget deck imo was a U/W counter,tap, and sweep deck. it doesnt win,but its funny to counter everything and tap all the creatures. its a good support deck in 2HG if your teammate can pump our creatures fast enough.

There was once I brought a very long box to a casual game. I brought my deck out and stacked it all up nicely.

Aim of the game: use battle of wits

Cards in deck: 250

Cards to put: almost everything in standard, 4 of each card mostly

Surprisingly, I won when I tutored for a battle of wits or even drew it, too bad I had to keep holding my deck up to stop it from falling down

Not everything in standard but just loads of creatures and card drawers or tutors to get my battle of wits

Normally I can pull the infinite mana--> infinite mill combo by the 6th or 7th turn, I'f I'm not facing control.

This is true. I love sennding about 7 or more Wolfs their way with the Kessig Cagebreakers too. It's so fun because even if they do kill something it just feeds a bigger something.
