Another nitpick: "and he sideboard " -> "and the sideboard "
I would also add Buntmaster as a competitive variant (which is a blend of Naya, Bant and Wolf Run), and move make a 'fringe variants' section for BG / BUG / Jund / Junk.
I'll be working on some updates on the OP very soon. I was thinking along the same lines as what you were thinking: Competitive Variants and Fringe Variants.
I think the Competitive Variants will include:
Naya Pod
Bant Pod
Wolf Run
Hybrids of the above (4c Pod, Butnmaster)
Kibler Pod
I still have to complete the rest of the thread (esp Sideboard). I have kind of neglected the thread as of late, but given the influx of popularity of Naya Pod, I think it's time for some major updates. Stay tuned.
I've only played Pod for a day or so and I think it's awesome sauce. Got 3rd in a 20 man Sunday Night Magic, but I'm still also a new player and not that great at knowing what to side in and out. I hope to see the sideboard options and side ins and outs soon

It hasn't been putting any results up. To my mind, the arguement for black is the incredible awesomeness of Massacre Wurm. It just wins games even harder than Elesh Norn does.
The only problem is, that craps on your manabase, and precludes colourless utility lands.
I'm a fairly competitive player. I haven't won any Gradn Prix or anything but I do go to bigger tournaments with intention of doing well or winning. I also do very well in a large FNM group that has at least 50 percent of the people being truely comeptitive. The chances of me going against janky decks all 4 rounfds is 0. the chances of me getting a janky opponent round 1-2.... 25-50%. Chances of me facing Teir 1 decks. 100% (assuming I didn't get curb stomped and had a crap record by some previous builds)
So when I build decks I wanna keep competitiveness in mind. I have yet to gaze into the podding direction but since its going out this October I'd like to build it before it gets tossed soley to modern/extended players.
And unless I miss my guess the way that the competitive pods work are this.
Naya Pod- Basically Zoo with pod? Good without pod. Great with it?
Bant Pod- find something good. Clone it. Work from there?
BUG Pod- similar to Bant only better kill spells but no Elesh?
Does that bout sum it up? And my question is that when I was looking at ways to construct a pod I was actually thinking of another color combo of using G/W/B. Whcih would run similarly to Naya pod but with black instead of red as the winner.
Does this have any real competitive merrit? if not why? If so how so?

thank you to anyone in advance for clarification.
B's main weakness in Pod is the mana base. It has good pod targets like Geralf's Messenger and Massacre Wurm, but mana costs like that can screw you in a three-color deck. Although for GWB's defense, blinking a Massacre Wurm would be sweet.

Well i had put down pod for a little while. Now i have a few pods and the land for naya. Do youthink a dragon pod is possible? The new mythick dragon as well as some other flires.
and why not? The new Mythic is a decent finnisher. I'm not saying there be nothing but dragons but incorporating some of the new dragons and other fliers that have haste into the deck for a faster version of the deck. You still keep all the key components that it had before but with faster win conditions and creatures.
Faster doesn't always mean better. There is a reason RDW and Tempered Steel sit on the side lines: inconsistent.
I think Thundermaw deserves a spot, but imo no other dragon i've seen so far belongs in this deck
What about other fliers or things with haste? Haste was the key word I was looking at when thinking of a faster pod. A lot of people already use Strangelroot Geist. thundermaw will most likely be used.
Geist was used because he was an effecient beater with undying.
Hellrider was used for a brief time because its ability > haste.
This guy WILL see play. Can it see play in Naya? Possibly. Does it have stiff competition at the 5 slot? Ask Thragtusk, Wolfir Silverheart, Zealous Conscripts, Geist-Honored Monk, Acidic Slime, Sigarda...ya. its a little crowded.
It could be good, but not an entire deck based around it. Thundermaw will see play bar none. Im just not sure what deck he fits best in
Yeah it isn't exactly that we need haste. I see one argument for haste in the upcoming metagame though. But it isn't so much a matter of having a need for haste creatures. I just think that sweepers will be the only way to fight back through the value we get that makes 1 for 1's pretty useless. For all the value we get our creatures aren't necessarily that aggressive. If I was playing against a control deck that was all sweepers I think I'd want haste (although I think I'd rather have it with all my creatures, so that any top deck could put them away). But still mainly a sideboard consideration.

Yeah the only way to make that work is having the undying creatures not die (for example if you have a 3/2 +1/+1 Messenger, BSZ for 2, making it a 3/2 -1/-1, meaning it will come back when it actually dies)
That isn't correct. BSZ won't remove the +1/+1 counter; nothing that makes -1/-1 counters will. It will give him two -1/-1 counters and a +1/+1 counter, so he will NOT come back with Undying again.

can you find the Rule for that? I was under the impression that it did cancel out the counters.

Quote from The rulebook that you never read »
121.3. If a permanent has both a +1/+1 counter and a -1/-1 counter on it, N +1/+1 and N -1/-1 counters are removed from it as a state-based action, where N is the smaller of the number of +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters on it. See rule 704.

If a permanent with a +1/+1 counter receives a -1/-1 it will end up with no counters on it.

You win target thread. If you aren't Atrius, Atrius wins that thread instead. "Wait, can you actually win a thread?" - Atrius.
Yes but if a creature dies because of -1/-1 counters, the +1/+1 counters on it will not remove.
BSZ will kill a Geist with +1/+1 counters. If u Fume Spitter'd the Geist, then BSZ'd, THEN the Geist would come back. But the state base trigger will not work
His quote was partially correct. Actually now that i read it, he meant it the way i did, but i read it wrong.

Thoughts on Silverblade Paladin in Naya? The 2 white mana hurts it, but it could give something to hardcast to improve our beaters, and increase our speed a bit, and double strike is a way out of deathtouch.

Check out the Kibler-pod thread, especially the first 5-10 pages, for some general thoughts. The consensus ended up being that he was too hard on the mana. Even in the more modern 4 cavern builds, he might be too rough - especially if you want RR for Hellkite.
Seeing as this is the Birthing Pod Primer, I assumed it had all the relevant information pertaining to birthing pod. I did a search throughout the thread for the word "Silverblade" and got no hits. So I posted. I'm sorry if I didn't read all the threads.
