Another Architect build Top Eighted in a European PTQ. Link.
Seems pretty standard, and is fairly close to what I've been running. Trisk is something I'm still not sold on, even more so with Caw effectively dead in two days.
Could caged sun replace Chalice in this deck once chalice rotates out ? caged sun is also fetchable with treasure mage.
no can do. Just not as good.
I don´t think pentavus is good enough. He is 7 cmc... Triskelion was 6. It was alot more fun to shoot down birds than making tokens i think. And another thing is that his activated abilities actually require mana (duh... if it didn´t it would be sick), meaning that you would always want to leave probably arounf 5 mana open (or 2 blue creatures and 1 untapped land) just so it doesn´t get dismembered or something.
Seriously. Chalice doesn't rotate for months. STOP TALKING ABOUT ROTATION AND M12.
Haha, but why don't you like Triskelion? On MWS, it's probably the single card that I've used to win the game more than any other. I just love it, lol.

Six mana for a Lighting Bolt and a 1/1? Just seems bad. If I need to ping little critters, Contagion Engine. If I need to kill bigger stuff Steel Hellkite. If I need to just kill, Wurmcoil Engine. All those can win games if I happen to draw them naturally too.
Yeah, but Triskelion is the best setup for combo'ing, imo. Start proliferating it pretty high, and then just blow your load all over them. More fun than Wurmcoil.

Might be jsut me but preparing for an upcommign tournament i keep looking at all card which might possibly have an impact on my architect deck and i came upon a fun 3 card combo.
Might be jsut me but preparing for an upcommign tournament i keep looking at all card which might possibly have an impact on my architect deck and i came upon a fun 3 card combo.
1 card provide blue creature boosting and artifact mana accelration.
1 Card become an unblockable attacker if he has an island and provide card advantage along whit deck disruption.
1 last card provide land stability and/or land disruption along whit card advantage.
I had 3x Thada in my SB pre-bannings as tech agaisnt CawBlade, but now that cawblade is dead they're not really any good.
The big deal with them was to steal the sword they didn't pull out with their T2 Mystic (Hopefully SoFaF, since they usually tutored Batterskull), and use Thada's Islandwalk to guarantee sword hits on them. However, now that CawBlade is no longer a thing, there aren't really any artifacts being run that we want. I mean, the few small artifacts that see play in standard aren't really what this deck wants, and have our own bombs in the form of Wurmcoil/Hellkite and friends.
After all that you've got an islandwalking (Less relevant now that not every deck is splashing blue for JTMS) 2/2 that first can swing on T4, fits in our already crowded 3 drop slot, and doesn't really have a relevant effect.
And Spreading Seas isn't really useful to the deck as a whole either, it was decent mana denial against jund, but that was only because of their 3 color manabase. I guess it's sort of useful against Valakut, to keep them off their green sources, but even then we have better tools for Valakut. Other than that I can't really see it being useful a whole lot.
smashing splinter twin red manasource to slow them down? playign predordain and some scry bird you coudl easly pull out 2 on their red land.
Since twin is RU, giving them extra islands hardly hurts them. They run enough red sources that it's just not going to be devastating to keep them off red for a while. This is in contrast to Jund or Valakut, which only have a few of each source due to color constraints. I've seen Valakut lists with as few as 5 green sources.
At least in my experience testing against twin, having a few more islands doesn't really hurt, it just lets them use more counterspells. Also, it doesn't do a whole lot to stop them from hitting their alternate wincon of T6 Inferno Titans. It'll slow em, but won't advance your game plan significantly. It didn't really seem to payoff in my tests.

As Much play as splinter twin combo is susposedly seeing its really not that scary of a deck to face and there are a ton of people that are acting like they have to base their decks/play around it. Its extremely fragile most of the time not being able to tutor for any specific part of the combo. its fairly easy to answer it as well removal, Tapping, redirect etc.
i got drowned catacomb cause im still deciding wither i want to splash some black for maybe black sun zenith, dismember, go for the throat and if i could get my hands on a tezz.
i been working on the sideboard still too, thinking about adding maybe spreading seas maybe for valakut? plus vampires have been a tad of an issue, which im working on ratchet bomb doesnt really do the trick so looking for alternatives hence the black splash im thinking about.
but the deck seems to shine great verse the control match up.
i see people like inkmoth in there Architect decks, i dont have any but is it really worth working on getting a set?
but any suggestions or tips on the aggro match ups would be much appreciated.
I´m playing 4 copies of Tezz's Gambit and IMO it's a must!
It ramps your Chalices, increases your Tumble Magnet count and Poisen Counters, if you're playing with Nexus...
In the Caw-xx and the Valakut Matches it was ALWAYS the matter of who has more mana in play to win... And with all these, it was most of time me... ;-)
I'm not sure why. What's everyone's thoughts on how the RDW matchup is?

RDW feels solid to me, were they just getting the nut draws or what?
I did see a t2 shrine every time they were on the play.
Played against 2 leyline of punishments, and they solidly beat before t5, against countermagic. Idk. It might have just been really bad times for me.

Thank you kindly! It was getting irritating.
Anywho, do you guys think this has a much better time in standard, with Jtms and SFM gone? I do!
If you see it, report it. I can't read all of these all day. Thanks
