He's very similar in function to Desecration Demon, and fills the same slot in the curve. He'll have to be enough better than the demon to take its place in BR decks.
I don't think the static ability is as good as Ephara's, but seven devotion in those colors is seriously achievable, and 7 power is boss. Can't wait to bash with this guy in multiple formats.
Regardless if the effect is as good or not, he slots way easier into a rakdos aggro deck than Ephara does in her non-existent midrange or aggro decks.

I doubt he'll take the mainboard slot unless the metagame shifts towards Control, but he's definitely a sideboard in for the Demon against those control decks that do show up. He's pretty obviously pegged for that purpose.

You played JESUS?!?! I heard none of his guys stay in the graveyard, and once you think you have him beat he ALWAYS comes back to win within three turns. I like...WORSHIP him.
I wonder if he'll be banned as a Commander. After all, Braids, Cabal Minion is. 2 life is a trifling thing in Commander, sure, but he's indestructible, one-sided, and also a 7/5 murderdeath machine instead of being a symmetrical squishy 2/3.
I hope not. I kinda want to build around him .

This card is great all around, but I would hate to see my opponent play Elspeth when I have Mogis in play.
If you have mogis in play, why did you let them get to turn 6?

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
I'm giddy at the moment. The god of my favorite color pairing and my favorite race actually gets a SWEET card... and gets spoiled at midnight on my birthday. Thank you, WotC.
Card is perfect except for one thing...why can't the trigger be on YOUR upkeep? I want to cast Rakdos, Lord of Riots off this and then immediately swing with Mogis (assuming I have at least one other devotion present). Poor Rakdos isn't going to see any play still.
dang it. I knew I wanted a playset before he was even spoiled but he is better than I imagined. An obviously playable and strong card. Hopefully something overshadows this cause I certainly don't want to be paying crazy amounts for these.

This isn't even the best red god to use as a commander...
The effect could prove so discombobulating to combo players, in particularly, they may fizzle and run away screaming. "From that day the Curse of the Plateau was upon me, and I found every hand I ever pull from a combo deck is a mulligan."

I love the flavor of this guy. He's like, "Offer me a sacrifice, virgin or otherwise, or I'll punch you in the face!!"
I'll be spending the next few hours lying awake in bed now trying to come up with ways to maximize his ability in a Commander deck. He'll be good for griefing for sure, and with the proper devotion, he's got the magical 7 power for general damage.
From the mind of Raymond Swanland: Valla, a plane made entirely out of brownish spikes.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.

I wish this was Phenax's effect.

Uh yeah I'm going Rakdos.
And I will be buying a playset of these.
You can beat your opponents in turn 4 or 5, but just saying it's a likely scenario. Luckily it's in the same colors as Dreadbore and Hero's Downfall.
