Bottomline if you closeline a running back or a receiver once they have been running with the ball there is never a call (I've seen it at least a few times this year). However if you do the same thing to a QB at any time or a receiver right after the catch the ball there will be a flag. Neck (or collarbone) will be called.
Stuck on a tough decision and could use some advice...
In my league we play 2 RB's, 2 WR's, and 1 RB/WR Flex. Who to play? My options are:
Knowshon Moreno vs Patriots
Zac Stacy vs Bears
Rashad Jennings vs Titans
Ryan Mathews vs Chiefs (don't think I'll be playing him but put him here for the sake of completeness)
Torrey Smith vs Jets
Victor Cruz vs Cowboys
Larry Fitzgerald vs Colts
Aaron Dobson vs Broncos (Also probably not playing him)

I am racky54 on Cockatrice and I'm almost always up for a match
Zac Stacy- SYS.... just SYS
Jennings- while I start him, im not so high, but only because its the Raiders. He should do well, and if not, we'll be in the same boat.
I cant say much else, but Torrey Smith is being held back by a couple of things. Flacco has taken a step backwards and been not having his explosive playmaking throws to Torrey. We also have, since Boldin left, Torrey being covered like no ones business. Its not that he cant handle it, its just combined with a regressed Flacco, its making his job harder. They play the jets, so the match-up does favor the Ravens offense at least somewhat. Thats all I'll say there.
christ. how we lost to both Pitt and TB, is beyond me. It's like they got way to excited to be 6-3 a couple weeks ago, and just forgot how to play football.

look at the Ravens at this point last year. We were 9-2. If memory serves, we finished 11-5 or 10-6.... so yea.
Also how many of the picks today were Stafford's fault and how much was Revis strangling Calvin?

50/50.
Megatron's hands haven't been as good this year as in the past. hope this won't be a trend. There was one pick where Megatron had it, got hit and lost it in air and it was picked. Normally, he would hang on and go to the ground.

Meh. Stafford is making the same horrible decisions and grossly overthrowing his WR's just like he did @ Georgia.
Tonight's game between NE and DEN was incredible, and was yet another reminder than Peyton Manning can't win games anymore in clutch situations. Just like his last X playoff appearances. I don't know how a team like the Broncos can be up 24 and lose the game. NE doesn't even play that much defense(though Talib or w/e his name is was impressive tonight).
At least this time when the other team got away with a lol-blatant pass interference(it was even more obvious this game), NE was still able to win. Though I was amused that Tom Brady had to call a time out to calm down because he was so pissed off about it.

Erm, I think it has less to do with Peyton Manning, and more to do with their swiss cheese defense. They're ranked in the bottom 10 for most relevant defensive categories, heck, they're 3rd from the bottom in Passing yards conceded per game, 6th from the bottom in points per game. I mean, just so we're clear, the offense put up 34 points, which would've beaten 20 other teams this week(possibly 22). I'd hardly put this loss on Peyton Manning's shoulders. I know the ESPN generation likes to blame the QB for everything, as if they have control over every situation(and likes to give credit for everything as well), but he's just one facet to the team. Sure Manning didn't exactly set the world on fire, but the Broncos offense did it's part, it's defense didn't hold up their end of the bargain.
Also "clutch" is the most lolsy term ever coined. Statistical analysis has pretty much proven there's no real "clutch factor" as much as we'd love to believe there is so we can put athletes on pedestals. Also, let's face it, the first quarter matters just as much as the fourth, if you preform well enough in the first parts of the game, then the fourth doesn't matter at all. But that's really another discussion for another time.
Those sound like excuses to me, and/or an attempt to not acknowledge that Peyton Manning can't be relied on anymore in a high pressure situation in a big game. And this has been the case for years now, arguably since Indy lost to the Saints in the SB.
And defense doesn't have that much to do with it. Denver scored 24 points in the first half, yet could only manage 7 in the second. In today's world of football, this is more the QB's fault than anyone else'(not to say that the rest of the offense isn't somewhat to blame, because they are). It is also a recurring theme with Peyton Manning.
@Macius: Yeah, I don't blame Brady at alll, it was just surprising to see.

So the defense giving up 34 points didn't have much to do with it? Is this even real life?
And throwing a TD to send it into OT with 3 minutes left because the defense just gave up 31 points is definitely unreliable? It sounds like this is just really bad analysis of a regular ESPN rhetoric.
Yea, Manning choked harder than David Carradine..... I think that was too soon.....
Manning couldnt find a rhythmn and we must consider again that it was well below freezing temps last night, which is a place where its believed PFM starts to show his age. Luckily PFM has a few more weeks to show it was a rare off night for him.
@Suntan: We would not be having this conversation if this happened one time. Or two times. Etcetera. With Manning, it happens too much to just be 'coincidence'.
Also, a defense can ultimately only do so much. In the first half, Denver moved the ball alot, the defense was always fresh when they came onto the field, etc. So they performed optimally. In the second half, Denver didn't move the ball particularly well, and the defense was on the field a ton more, and ultimately they cracked. Denver's offense didn't have to do THAT much more in the second half to win that game. And the other problem with what you're saying is that Peyton Manning is the LEADER of that offense. Beyond just being the QB. He takes control of a game much more than most QBS do(he audibles more etc etc). If you are going to take up that mantle, you have to be able to live up to it for the full game. But Manning consistently falls short in this regard, at least in high pressure situations.
For example. If you had to pick one QB to lead your team in the playoffs would it be...Manning? Or Brady?
The answer is pretty obviously Brady, from any objective standpoint. But why? Statistically, Manning is better in basically every area(as they were showing at one point during the game last night). But Brady is flatly the more reliable QB. Last night is a perfect example. NE was down 24-0 at the half, and Brady rallied his team to a victory, while Manning could only put 7 points on the board in the second half.

Its not age. Its the way he throws a football. Those "wobbly" passes dont cut through the wind the way Brady's spiral does. So when you have 20 mph + winds, its a problem. Manning's WR's didnt do him many favors either
Last night was also pretty telling in regard to where his arm strength is in relation to the procedures he had 2 years ago

I agree, the New England defense did nothing to stop Manning, it was clearly all Tom Brady that brought New England back. He just stared at Manning from the sideline while the defense stopped the run game and the pass game. He's really just that good of a QB.
It's a team sport, I will never buy into the fact that a single person shoulders the blame, and quite frankly, I can't take anyone who does believe it comes down a single person seriously. It's such a narrow and short-sighted view of a more complex situation. It's like when people create the magical christmas land in magic where the opponent does nothing while you play your perfect hand. There's another side to this, and it's just hilariously constantly ignored.
I feel like MTGS4 is the NHL, except the East is the West and the West is the East.
Case in point - I am in the West in 4th place and have the 2nd highest PF, while having the highest PA in the league. If I was in the East I would be in 1st place and battling in the playoffs with my current record. I have to say this year was very frustrating as far fantasy football goes since I did have a very good draft and a very good season, but pretty much everyone I played had their best weeks of the year against me and I am in the West instead of the East. It's sort of frustrating because I can't really chalk up me not being in the playoffs to anything other than bad luck.
I'm confused. I can't access the Fantasy site at work and from my phone, I don't see the details. Did I qualify for the Playoffs? I thought I was out of the race lol. Wasn't it just the top 2 that went through?

even if you didnt qualify for the playoffs you still have a matchup this week. Not sure why you cant access the page
It's a bug with my phone. I can only connect to the Fantasy site through the official app and that thing sucks
I'm home now, so I saw my matchup. But, if everyone plays this week, how do I know if I made the Playoffs?
are you at the top of your division?
Do you have the best or second best record not counting the division leaders?
If yes, you're in.
Also look at your opponents record as an indicator if so.

Go to the scoreboard page and click on the playoff round 1 link. You are the #6 seed, so no, you didnt qualify for the winners bracket portion of the playoffs
Playoff matchups are as follows:
MTGS1
#1 Arcadic (10-2) v #4 Ganderin Dan (7-5)
#2 Blade332 (8-4) v #3 Con Valian (7-5)
MTGS2
#1 Digi (10-2) v #4 42Osiris (7-5)
#2 NateTheArtificer (9-3) v #3 AliveZombie (7-5)
MTGS3
#1 KillerOfGiants (10-2) v #4 TisForTool (7-5)
#2 AdamM (7-5) v #3 Jobie (9-3)
MTGS4
#1 Emocakes (10-2) v #4 CardiacCat (9-3)
#2 Macius (6-6) v #3 ThaDeceptikon (10-2)
How are tie-breakers determined? I have a better point differential and division record than the guy in 5th and we have the same record. And I appear to be 1-0 vs him in the regular season.

That is superbly disappointing. Oh well. Guess there's always next year, when I'll understand things like 'how to use waivers' better, instead of having Julio Jones sit on my team injured for 4 weeks.
