Buyback. Most of them are pretty jank, but getting to use a spell over and over again is sometimes just too good. Capsize and Shattering Pulse are both amazing. Sprout Swarm is pretty decent too, I guess.
A close second would be Split Second. I love that pretty much nothing can go on the stack until the spell resolves. Krosan Grip and Take Possession are both great at removing key permanents.
Cascade. Such a good Spike mechanic. Too bad that most of the cards with it aren't good in EDH (and Maelstrom Wanderer is so overdone I'd hate to be another MW player...)
My votes are for Landfall and Morph. The first gives you a free benefit just for playing the game as you normally would, and the second makes a fun guessing game for your opponents if there are enough face down creatures around. I know there's a Zedruu morph deck around here somewhere and it's a sweet idea.
Favorites:
Phasing because it always generates questions and for randomly dodging wraths.
Splicing because toolbox mechanics are great fun. I don't actually use this mechanic in any of my decks, but I always enjoy seeing others utilize it. Wizards needs to bring it back! It's a shame Time Spiral 2.0 won't ever happen.
Storm. I like storm because it changes the way people build decks.
****ty mechanics:
Double strike: Maro: "Hey guys what if there was like a super first strike? But instead of striking first, it doubled? You can grok that right? Roseanne!"
Unleash: I hate this mechanic because of the awesome mechanic that got pushed aside to make room for this ultra-lame-made-for-limited mechanic. I'm so glad my RTR limited was properly fun for the 3 months it lasted. Now I have the pleasure of throwing every Unleash card away instead of playing with the awesome Paincast mechanic for all eternity.
Fading & Vanishing: What's the difference? Who knows? Did I remember to remove a counter this past upkeep? Who knows? Yay!

Landfall and Cascade come to mind. What would be really cool would be a card that said something like Landfall: Cascade X, where X is the number of lands you control. It would probably have to cost a lot though and maybe be broken.

I don't think this works with the way Cascade is designed because the way is is now, it triggers when you cast the spell, and you reveal until you find a card that costs less. I don't think a card on the battlefield could trigger a cascade unless they modified the way the mechanic functions. However, Cascade is surprisingly low on the Storm Scale (only a 3!), so we will probably see it again some day, and perhaps they would rework it then.
Oh, and also this card would be obscenely broken. Imagine playing your 10th land and cascading 10 times. As long as you can protect this thing it would give you an instant board presence every time you played a land.
Protection has got to be my favorite ability. It has so many interesting interactions and so many possible permutations, some of which still been explored (Protection from creatures with flying, Protection from permanents with activated abilities, Protection from the first spell cast each turn).
This little ability, all by itself, made Progenitus one of the most epic creatures ever printed.
my favorite? flashback without a doubt. in a world where creatures are getting better and better, being able to cast a spell twice to keep up seems pretty good.

ETB triggers & death triggers are probably my favorite... abilities? Idk if they would be considered abilities but whatever. I just love building around them.
Haste. something about swinging with your general the turn it comes down is just a really great time. lightning greaves is one of those cards that you never regret drawing
I'm a huge fan of lifelink, vigilance, deathtouch, and first/doublestrike. Makes combat so much more one-sided as they all help on the defense as well as offense.
I'm also a huge fan of morph, extort, scry, cascade, and defender will always have a soft spot in my heart. We need a 5c legendary wall/defender!

I hope one day we can see an "Index your opponent" mechanic as that is less oppressive than inverse scry.
