So, I've been watching Sword Art Online lately... I think it's pretty cool, just got done with the episode "Blue Eyed Demon" and gotta say, I saw it coming, but I didn't...lol.
Keep watching until the opening theme changes. At that point you will salvage your impression of the series by not going onward. Up until then though, it's pretty solid!

Marathoned Sakamichi no Apollon the other day. 10/10. Probably my favorite anime now. I hate the way it ended, but the way it ended is mega common in anime, so it's not really a negative mark.
Love interests split up, time jump, meet in the future, no words, end show, this is the part you assume it's a happy ending
So, Attack on Titan is over for the foreseeable future.
I don't know what to do with my life anymore...
I'm still praying for more Jojo, although since Part 2 and Joseph Jostar are my favorite arc and character, respectively, I can live with the anime we got, low budget flaws and all. I just wished the budget were better for such tremendous source material - especially since the Manga has been running longer than most people on this forum have been alive - 26 years.

See, I hadn't even heard of this Manga until the show came out, but if it's been running for 26 years, then I'm more than a little dismayed. I don't particularly care for the Anime shows that span seasons upon seasons. FMA: Brotherhood was about as long as I want something to go.
I much prefer things like Darker than Black, Eden of the East, Baccano!, or Trigun. One really good season, and I can put the show down and feel like it had some closure.
In that vein, any suggestions?

Well, Parts I, II and III of Jojo create a pretty self-contained story, as do just Parts I and II. Right now those are the only ones that are animated. Part III is a 12-episode OVA released in the 90's (and 00's), it was made due to the popularity of shows like Dragonball Z and Yu Yu Hakusho at the time (although Jojo is more like Fist of the North Star than they are).
If you're looking for short seasons, the Jojo Anime will do, as it's about 37 episodes (Covering three generations of the Jostar family) if you include the OVA. It's one of those shows you watch with friends and beer in your hand though, don't take it too seriously. Part II is my favorite.
I'd have to think to remember the good stuff, but I'll get back to you. Of the things I recommend in those posts, these are the 'short and sweet' shows:
Cowboy Bebop
Samurai Champloo
Outlaw Star
Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory/8th MS Team
Berserk if you've got a strong stomach
Hellsing
Tiger and Bunny
I have a major gap in my viewership between '05 and this year, so I'm not really up on whats new. And most of what I watched was bootlegged, so I don't know how you'd get it now.
I discovered it 4 years ago and was excited when the movie came out.
Love the story for the show, plus the Gundams aren't just invincible which always ticked me off in a lot of the other Gundam shows.
Plus, the similarities between the World in the show and the world today are numerous. Funny thing is, a lot of the technology in the show is available today too. E-carbon, etc.
Either way, It's one of my "must recommend" shows.

But true horror is hard, at least I can't remember a good and original horror anime,
I'm looking for something like Shikibane hime (first half was good, then it just became an excuse for fanservice in the 2nd half) or Ga Rei Zero (which I really liked).
Maybe that's not horror. Something kinda dark with scary monsters and/or demons or something like that.
Oh and I saw Elfen Lied before too. That's not quite what I'm looking for because theres just the Diclonius not scary monsters/demons/whatever. The diclonius just look like naked girls with invisible arms and arent very scary looking. I don't know if I make sense about what I'm looking for.
Something kinda dark with scary monsters and/or demons or something like that.
Kyoukai No Kanata might be what you're looking for. The first Episode just aired early this morning and most streaming sites already have it subbed. It's pretty good for a first episode and it has the dark scary monsters and people fighting them.
Coppelion also has a survival horror feel to it, but not dark scary monsters, just radiation(or something similar) along with a post-apocalyptic jungle danger sense.
Shingeki no Kyojin(Attack on Titan) has BIG scary monsters and a legit sense of fear and hopelessness to match.
I much prefer things like Darker than Black, Eden of the East, Baccano!, or Trigun. One really good season, and I can put the show down and feel like it had some closure.
In that vein, any suggestions?
Stein;s Gate, Sakamichi no Apollon, AnoHana, Jormundgand(2 seasons but they are a total of 25 or so eps), Mirai nikki, Death Note.
I keep seeing this recommended. I tried to watch the first episode and it completely failed to hook me. Tell me it gets better and I'll give it another go.

I think we could see shingeki no kyojin season 2 next year.
Since it's a great success the producers could put a little pressure on Hajime Isayama (the creator), like the hbo producers do with george martin, since both series are worldwide famous and it's all about money.
And I think Hajime Isayama could do the same Martin did, he gave some spoilers/paths to the producers and if something happen to him they will be able to finish the series, or if martin takes too long to finish the damn book, they also will be able to record the season.
I keep seeing this recommended. I tried to watch the first episode and it completely failed to hook me. Tell me it gets better and I'll give it another go.
It's slice of life for the first half and crazy psychological thriller sci-fi crazy **** in the second half. It starts slow

A lot of these things I will say don't have direct sources, I don't have the time to search the exact source, so I'm not going to say my statements are correct, but based on what I've heard and they do seem pretty realistic and possible.
Hajime Isayama has already accelerated the release of his monthly manga release (well, they said his twitter said so, and I don't translate those), but from recent manga releases, it does really seem so. And acceleration means contents of the chapter, not so much the speed, since it's still monthly.
No source and pure speculation, but I also believe Shingeki no Kyojin will run for only about 100 chapters. Hajime is expanding on the world in other ways (Before the Fall and the upcoming manga on Levi and Erwin's past), I won't be too surprised if Eren's story wasn't all that long (it will definitely be the longest among all Shingeki comics though.) As of today, Chapter 50 was released, so based on that estimate, we are halfway through.
(Actually I'm not too sure if Hajime Isayama did an estimate of 100 himself, I completely have no source, but in all sense, Shingeki will not be a long-running series like the Shonen mains.)
From Chapter 50 to 66 will take 16 chapters - which means 16 months. Taking a rough estimate of 100 chapters, with a season (2-cour) taking 33 chapters the entire Shingeki story will be told in 3 2-cour anime series. (6-cour total).
Animation itself will take time. I don't expect to see Season 2 until 2015, and when the Manga has reached around Chapter 68-70.
And if there's a third season, that one will take 4 to 5 years, BUT.... we have Before the Fall and the Levi/Erwin Manga to animate by then.
All my predictions only. I haven't seen a recent Manga/Anime done as well as SnK and am willing to wait for quality. And seeing the Anime industry and the Japan Audience Patience, SnK won't die out because of a 2-year wait.
I keep seeing this recommended. I tried to watch the first episode and it completely failed to hook me. Tell me it gets better and I'll give it another go.

^ yes, even though i usually stay away from school-themed stuff on principle. I gave the first episode a shot, and it's worth a slot on my list for the time being...
I'm rewatching Gundam Wing for the first time in a while. crikey that series is nearly 20 years old...
I never liked Wing much, MS 08th Team I had liked a lot because it was self contained and was considerate more towards some war themes. Wing had too much talk about pacifism and too many grandiose speeches for my taste, and frankly I've read things like Das Kapital Vol 1-3 for "fun" and I was still fast forwarding through some of it. MS 08th Team reminded me of Star Trek DS9, which was probably my favorite Star Trek.
Keep watching until the opening theme changes. At that point you will salvage your impression of the series by not going onward. Up until then though, it's pretty solid!

Blood+ was okay. It didn't have a strong continuous plot like I hoped for. Kinda seemed monster-of-the-week-ish.
