In all honesty, it was through a lack of other places to play.
You need tempo cards! Mana Leak, Remand and Memory Lapse are fall fantastic counters, and cheap spot removal like Go for the Throat, Disfigure and Dimir Charm is fantastic. Pack lots of answer cards, keep your CMCs fairly low and run a decent tutor suite if possible.
I thought those didn't work cause you aren't stopping them, you are delaying them.
I thought those didn't work cause you aren't stopping them, you are delaying them.
Mana leak and stuff is bad late game and so on.
That's the general idea. Memory lapse is denying them the spell they cast AND the next card they would draw. Mana leak is good early game, true, but with the old standby counterspell you only have to include two. Negate is a good card too as your are running removal alongside your counters. Disperse is another great addition. Gives you some resilience vs. Blue and black's weaknesses and works in tandem wih your counters as 'removal'.
Good luck man!
I seem to be doing it wrong then. Cause Memory lapse to me makes me think I'm ok if I draw another way to delay them/stop it, but screwed if I don't cause they are 100% sure to get business. Same with Remand. Love it in tempo, but control ehhh...
But lets say my deck has 12 delay cards, 20 answers 4 finishers and 24 lands, They are 100% likely to get a threat, while I am 33% likely to find a permanent answer. But I am 50+% likely to be able to answer again. but then I need to do it again.
Dunno how I missed this, but my first control deck was something like:
4 Paradox Haze
4 Curse of the Cabal
4 Brine Elemental
4 Festering March
4 Reality Strobe
2 Gauntlet of Power
4 Deathspore Thallid
4 See Beyond
More bad cards.
22-24 basics.
God I was a bad player. Guess when I started playing?
It occurs to me that I did not post my savra edh list when I said! Sorry BV, I did finish it up, but became entrenched in back to school shopping and my new ps3. I will get to it hopefully soon if you still wanna critique it. Tonight is not good as I go to work 4 hours earlier at 4 am CST. This weekend is my daughter's 3rd birthday party so I am hoping for wednesday night or thursday night.
I want to make a Mycosynth Golem combo deck, any ideas? So far I have tinker into this.
You can go the Precursor Golem route, using cantrips (for easy/quick card draw, buffs, evasion, and other fun combat tricks. Picking out what one or two colors to go (3 is pushing it, unless you are running at least 3 or 4 Glimmervoids). Each color (& multi-colored instants/sorceries) has great options to go with the Precursor. On top of that, there are golem creatures of pretty much each casting cost to fill out a curve nicely.
On another note... I'm back. My computer was toasted 2 weeks ago (mother board took a huge dump on me). So I went a local computer store, bought $600 worth of parts & took the parts to my college. One of the IT guys on campus took an evening to assemble all of the parts & now I have an awesome machine for not just gaming, but for game design. Maya works like a charm on it.
So I'm getting more into some other games. Got King of Tokyo, Smash Up and Sentinels of the Multi verse (will be here Friday). Any suggestions for good games?

I used to play Duel Masters, back when it was first released. It's pretty similar to Magic but from what I remember quite a bit simpler, makes a nice change to play it once in a while.
It's quite easy to build well balanced decks to play against each other too, if I remember rightly.
It's "Kaijudo" now. And even when I played Duel Masters back in the day, I didn't really enjoy it. It felt like watered down magic.

Here is my current decklist for Savra, only two weeks late! I just tightened it up with some trades I got last night. Any previous list would have still had a metric ton of stuff leftover from the Jarad build that this transformed from.
Note that all cards here are physical cards I own except Rise of the Dark Realms.
Notable interactions:
ObviouslyMelira, Sylvok Outcast + any sac outlet + Woodfall Primus= Kill everyone else's noncreature stuff! Nasty combo this one. Sub in Redclaw Trow for the Primus and have Savra out for the opposite outcome (only creatures).
Have Viscera Seer as your sac outlet to look through your deck.
Add Blood Artist to either combo for the win!
Other than this, the deck is pretty straightforward. I don't want the oppressive, turn after turn stax build. I went for the more explosive turns build where a single turn can swing the game. I haven't tested this yet, but it looks alright. There is also a small remnant of the Jarad build here so some cards don't look really great (looking at you splinterfright), but I felt they could stay.
I also want to note that I am particularly proud of the Damnation I recieved last night. A guy wanted my foil Birthing Pod (valued at $29 by TCGplayer.com) and, after agonizing minutes of decision making, agreed to this trade!
I dropped it in favor of some of my combo pieces doing the work along with tutors and greed. Repeatable recursion is something I have considered, but just havent tested this deck yet to see if I would need it for my group's meta. I should get some in anyway.
I was thinking Oversold Cemetary orTortured Existence could be fun. Maybe a Recurring Nightmare and/or Hell's Caretaker.
I also have a hobby where I check Walmarts in areas where MTG isn't very popular. They tend to still have older sets in stock. I just finished buying the rest of the Scars on hand and M12 is next.
I want to share a list I brought to a local tournament yesterday (round robin, only 6 people total) I got first place. I lost the first game of every match and won the next two. For 5 matches. Against the best player (I feel the last game was so close) and against the worst player (I had 2 lands to his 11 on turn 14+, I died to Archaeomancer (which I always thought was a 2/2) beats. Really. Misplay of the night is when a guy Miracles a Reforge the Soul. I thought it was Thunderous Wrath off the art or something, so I cast an Esper Charm draw mode in response hoping to find an answer, I couldn't and when he told me what it did I was like ****! I didn't have enough mana left to stop him from killing me even when my new 7 card hand had counters.)
