By far my favorite general to be previewed. Not only can you make a fun Artifact Commander deck, but the U ability can double up w/ creature removal for them pesky artifacts.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
It isn't a horrible card but I don't know how I feel about it as a general. Her effect isn't anything new either. Karn, Silver Golem did this first albeit in colorless and at a higher mana cost. Sharuum the Hegemon was my first ever EDH deck and I have always liked her for the artifact archetype. You could run Mycosynth Lattice and Memnarch and then use your opponent's Sol Ring to beat their face.
I suspect Sydri may see play in Vintage (but not Legacy). She's cheap enough, and pop all the Moxen, here I come! It's also nice to be able to Swords to PlowsharesTime Vault (or even break up the Vault-Key combo with Diabolic Edict after you pop all the Moxen if they didn't stick any other artifacts).
She doesn't thrill me, but she's interesting. As mentioned by someone, she can turn opponents' permanents into artifacts for artifact destruction (hello Return to Dust and Revoke Existence), but she can pull off ransoming things in the face of board wipes in a way like Kamahl, Fist of Krosa. The second ability can mean the difference between life and death (literally!). She's good in an Esper artifact deck for sure, as the commander or one of the 99, and I'll look forward to playing against her.
Which begs the question: Why can't we get way cool art like this in CORE/Block sets anymore?
It reminds me of Sci_Fi shows where they only time the writers let anything interesting happen is an episode with a reset button. "Oh, it a Commander-only card? Let's let Terese paint something for old times' sake."
I like this general just for the simple fact that she can repeatedly kill your opponent's Mana Crypt and Mana Vault no problem. That's honestly probably the biggest draw to me.
Plus, being able to turn your Spine of Ish Sah into a 7/7 behemoth for 1 mana is pretty exciting as well.
When I first saw her I wasn't very impressed. I liked the ablities but I felt she was overshadowed by Oloro (who I still do believe is the best possible new general in UBW).
However, the more I think about her she has her uses and can build a unique artifact deck which can be taken where the pilot chooses. Plus she's well supported by Tezzeret (my favorite walker) And not the Hegemon which seems to be a general players generally dislike. ;P She looks to be a very fun mutiplayer general.
Kind of annoyed by how this almost completely obsoletes Karn. You give up every color so you could play his unique ability... except now it's not.
Yeah, I think this may be technically a violation of the Reserve List "No Functional or Improved Version Printed" part of the policy. Which, I honestly hope it is because it means Wizards may be taking subtle steps towards dissolving it.
Speaking of Karn, Silver Golem, I've played Karn, Silver Golem in EDHC extensively as both a general and a support card. And right now I don't know how Sydri would stack against him in a commander comparison, but I'm hedging bets she will trump him.
But what I can tell you is that what Wizards is leaning on for people to not notice the Reserve List quip I mentioned above is that they think adding colors will weaken Karn 2.0. It won't in the commander format. Maybe in the Eternal formats where's it's legal, but those don't matter for this discussion at the moment. I've played Karn, Silver Golem as a Combo/Control Colorless deck, and giving that strategy access to colors in General form is one of biggest mistakes that Wizards will make regarding the entire commander format, especially since one of those colors is blue.
I'm actually thinking of making a pseudo sphinx tribal with her. A lot of the Alara block sphinxes either have artifact abilities or are artifacts themselves...plus giving Sphinx of the Steel Wind death touch seems like a good idea

Quote from Relevant portion of the Reserved List Information »
A card is considered functionally identical to another card if it has the same card type, subtypes, abilities, mana cost, power, and toughness.
Card type: NO
Subtypes: NO
Abilities: YES
Mana cost: NO
Power: NO
Toughness: NO
Since that and is inclusive, it cannot be a breaking of the Reserved List as it doesn't even match most relevant categories.
The best part about this card is that she can practically swap spots with Sharuum and require only a few changes to the deck list in order to be good to go. I like her a lot. A lot, a lot. She makes so many fun interactions. Darksteel Forge becomes an absolute monstrosity...

But then the Forge can get hit by Path or something else that otherwise couldn't touch it...and then your artifacts are vulnerable again. Double-edged sword there

Effect is underwhelming at first glance, but the ability to animate/kill opposing artifacts is huge and great leverage.
the lifelink/deathtouch ability is icing on the cake

this. and in some respects the 1 of 2 abilities that it mimics is techinically better on karn as it does not have a color restriction.
it is only better in the EDH mind frame, as it allows you to play a "karn-like" general with three colors.
