This is the first bestow creature that seems playable. He has solid stats and has a relevant keyword (flash). The bestow cost is fair IMO. He is a creature first and an enchantment second, like all the Bestow cards so far. Throwing down an P/T pumping enchantment at instant speed can lead to some devastating plays. The more tramplers and evasion creatures you pack, the better his bestow becomes. He is a respectable role player in any deck trying to hit X devotion. He plays nicely with Burning-Tree Emissary. He blocks Blood Baron of Vizkopa, Loxodon Smiter, and a handful of other creatures successfully. I don't expect him to survive after blocking most often, but that's not his purpose. He is a surprise blocker like Plumeveil, and an aggressive beater. That's an unusual combination, but Wolfir Avenger did fit that same role.
All together, I really like the card. It isn't Scavenging Ooze level powerful, but it is a good card that has potential. I see his bestow cost in a similar way that I saw Dreg Mangler's Scavenge cost. It won't always be useful, but when it is, it will still wins out of nowhere.
I really, really, REALLY like this, but it'll feel SO bad if it gets Shocked. Besides that, I find this to be a great 3-drop and fantastic that this can be followed up with Advent of the Wurm.
GW Flash, anyone?
I think Lightning Strike will be used more than both Shock and Magma Jet in the upcoming Standard. So if it makes you feel better, Lightning Strike would still kill him even if he was a 4/3.
I actually disagree with that. Unless it's mono red, both these burn spells will be seen in different decks. Strike will definitely see play because of bolt: Xenagos.
Wolfir's Avenger at rare minus the regenerate with varying P/T. Will probably see play here and there much like the Avenger did but this did not have to be a rare.

To the people that say that a card needs to be a higher rarity because of Limited... I hate you guys so much. I present to you with this.

Of course Boon Satyr had to be a rare due to its complexity. The power of a card, which is, in large part, a subject concept, isn't the only the consideration when pegging rarities to cards.
If this were an uncommon, with the bar quite high then, what might constitute a rare?

You should know that that is really pushing it; it is not a vanilla for 1GG, for which a 4/3 or even a 4/4 might be, or become, acceptable.
This is actually pretty well designed card and I like it.
I absolutely love this card and I think it will be played very heavily. I think that the main use will be using it as a beater. Following an attack from an opponent on their turn 3-4, you end their turn with this guy. He seems bonkers considering his pseudo haste like resto angel. He has many of the same uses as resto albeit not quite as good (you also have to consider he is green, where restos abilities wouldn't fit at all). He is a pseudo haste swinger, but swings in for 1 more, but he is more fragile and doesn't fly. He can respond to a swing for pseudo removal, but he will probably die. He can bestow onto a creature and save them from removal, but only burn spells or -x/-x abilities. As for the dodging burn spells part, he also pumps your dude permanently AND turns into a creature after death which means it will take 2 removal spells after the first one he stopped to get rid of him completely.
Lol Cloudgoat Ranger and Kitchen Finks were very powerful, constructed-worthy, and limited first-picks. They were uncommon, and deservedly felt so.
Boon Satyr feels the same, but not as powerful.
It really seems they're watering down the set. Either that or the pendulum has swung to another color, another Maro-esque move to keep Magic dynamic.
That not exactly a bad thing. It looks to me like they are trying to give black some love in this set. Green has been looking good for awhile now.
And remember, cards like Kitchen Finks were probably overlooked by development. I sure they weren't happy when they saw how potent Finks was. He's got to be one of the top 5 creatures in Modern.
As for Cloudgoat Ranger; I have no idea to this day why it isn't a rare. It's a white Siege Gang Commander.
Lesson to be learned here is that just because a few uncommons slipped threw the cracks and were very powerful, doesn't mean that all cards should follow that trend.
Obviously I'm a newb (post count) but here are my thoughts:
1) Worse case scenario it's 4/2 for 3 mana.
2) You can bestow a creature that's blocking a bigger creature (requires you to have 5 mana)
3) You can bestow a creature that attacked and is being blocked by something bigger (requires you to attack with 5 mana open which is not too hard).
Even if the creature you bestow on is removed before the bestow resolves you still get a 4/2 creature.
I think that's enough to make this card worth at least a few bucks and get played here and there (I think that most people are put off by it because all the other bestow creatures are garbage).

The bar is PRETTY damn low, so no I would have no problem with this being an uncommon. Avenger survives anything with the "can't be regenerated" clause. As for the same mana cost can be used as a green doomblade by flashing in and then regenerate at 5. I do like however that the bestow isn't that overcosted compared to the rest.

Lol, probably. For every spoiled card, there's people ready to say it's horrible, unpowered, etc.
Agreed. I just read someone in another thread saying that Ashen Rider should have costed 6 and also had lifelink. Thanks Purophoros nobody here works for Magic development...
I see him being insane in an aggro simic deck. In the right situations it is a 3-1 for 5 mana. If you have bounce cards, you enchant a creature at instant speed, trade or win a matchup, and then get a 4/2. If he gets doombladed, bounce him back to your hand, and pump up something else the following turn.
If you don't have the mana, 4/2 Flash for 3 is borderline playable anyway.
I don't know, it actually seems quite relevant in combat. As it may only be +4/+2 aura with flash for 3GG, but here is the kicker: If the enchanted creature dies, you don't get 2:1. Yep, you still have a 4/2 out which means your opponent had to 2:2 to get rid of both the original creature to get bestowed and the bestow creature itself.

I can see this being a hosing in Limited as well as potentially a Constructed competitive card.

Seriously, Loaming Shaman was a rare. I wonder what's up with people these days.
Would you be expecting this:
Random Satyr 1GG
Enchantment Creature
Rare
Flash
Bestow 2GG
1G: Regenerate
When Random Satyr comes into play, target creature gains +3+3 until end of turn.
Reach, Trample
Enchanted creature gets +6/+6 and has reach and trample and 1G: regenerate this creature.
6/6
And some would call this underpowered because it dies to naturalize.

Either way, they will both see more play than shock. I'm sure Magma Jet will see play in RDW. The scry is too good to pass up.

4/2 flash isn't bad, dual green mana cost is good for the devotion, one of the only card that can increase devotion at instant speed mind you.
A reasonably costed bestow at instant speed is very nice for green, where, besides giant growth, combat tricks are uncommon. A 2 for 1 very often.
Also leaves you with a 4/2 after board swipes.
Even if it dies to Searing Spear (oh sorry, Lightning Strike), there aren't that many 3 drops that can survive it anyway.
