These are very good. I look forward to picking them up cheap because of all the people undervaluing them. I figure that might balance out by the pre-release though, after people have taken some time to think and test.
I guess I like these, you are kind of paying one mana to scry 1, not really worth it, would scry 2 have been too good? I am pretty sure the check lands are better with the Ravnica lands, control kinda likes these but one and two color agro decks will really punish these. More flavors of dual lands are certainly welcome in singleton formats.
Pretty crap these are rare when the Zen ones were uncommon and I dont see scry 1 being better than one life.
These are certainly worse then the dual man lands.
I really hope the hate train keeps rolling on these so I can hoard them for cheap right after release. Lands that fix your draws for you are being massively underrated.
I agree with this 100%. I'm not sure what the people in this thread are smoking, but my first thought was that these lands might a little bit too powerful, not that they were bad. Each one is like weaker Serum Visions that comes on a land rather than drawing you a card. That seems very good to me

rare spot worthy....not really. neat card for standard atm, sure. Everyone want's something they can play in modern or legacy and can't appreciate what's given to them.
I can't believe some people think "Scry 2" would be reasonable on a dual land. Next they'll want their land drops to cantrip.
No, I just think they want them to ETB untapped.
I normally shy away from complaints and hyperbole, but these are pretty terribad. Yes, scrying 1 for free once isn't horrible, but let's be honest, these are glorified guildgates. I'm really disappointed, because I had a lot of interesting 3 color deck ideas for Standard, but it looks like none of them will be playable.
Am I remembering wrong, or was there a quotation from a few weeks ago about somebody being *ahem* "really excited" to reveal these lands? Apparently we can add ecstasy to the list of drugs Wizards employees are allowed to use in their line of work.
Perhaps you should just send WOTC a resume and tell them why you're better at Magic than one of their employees instead of complaining here, where nobody really has any authority on the matter.

I'll one up you on that Halimar Depths. That was a COMMON land card that was effectively better than what you just suggested (except in rare cases where you're forced to put 2 cards you really want on the bottom of your deck). So yeah, I think it's reasonable to be highly disappointed in these lands, and to have expected at least a little more power out of them.
Once again, these lands AREN'T! BAD! They MIGHT be categorized wrong as rares(I think they'd be pushed at uncommon, but that is just me) However, they will get the job done in Standard for the time of their existence.
This is the only block so far when I hate to crack out any of these lands as my booster rare.
In exchange of the count of good mythics and rares here.
(Guys, even guildgates wins you games with Maze's End lol. So guildgates are better.)
yeah sure... because scry for free is bad... oh wait! its hillariously good.
u shouldnt value these things before u played with them, if you have no idea how good scry for free on a land is.
also we never had "the duals of the block" as uncommon. so why the hell do you guys wonder, that they are rare?
Hmm, Shall I go in reverse order, or ascending order?
Reverse!
Zendikar Block (Fetches aren't duals, fetches fetch REAL duals, the Refuge cycle was the dual lands for the block...)
Shards of Alara ( The Tri-lands, the only lands that made more than one color in the block - other than Ziggurat - were uncommon, and cipt...)
Time Spiral (The Storage lands, we never got a real dual land cycle out of TSP, save for Future Sight with 5 different land types, which, all the Theros lands copy New Benalia, an uncommon from FTS)
Kamigawa Block - The "Ridge" cycle as I like to call it, you tap for colorless all day long, but as soon as you tap for a color, they don't untap during the next untap step
Mirrodin Block - (did Mirrodin have any duals? I think the only one was Glimmervoid and Mirrodin's Core - A Storage land...)
Torment - The Tainted Lands...
Need I go on?

As someone who primarily plays Pauper I'm getting a kick out of this thread.
Very surprised that Guildgate + Scry 1 = Rare though. If they were uncommons I think they would be better received. The art on them is really good. Really like Temple of Silence. Feels super creepy.
When we have shocklands and checklands everyone complains that mana is too good and everyone is just playing 3 color goodstuff. Now that checklands are being replaced with slower variants, everyone is complaining that they're **** and that Wizards is killing multicolor?

no its not better. Its a huge difference if you can put a card on the bottom of your library instead of just rearanging them. also it produces only 1 color..
Is it April 1st? OR does Wizards Design really think these are exciting new lands? Nobody up there read these and didn't think they bore some resemblance to a full set of common lands in the Return to Ravnica block?
I'm just confused. Why were these even made? Why are they rare? Why? Why? Why?
Many folks in this thread are really underestimating how strong Scry is on a land. These lands are going to easily find their way above $10 and stay there.

u should know this forum by now its always the same.
People complaining about how "bad" these are need to better research the math involved with the game.
Being able to scry for FREE is an amazing upside. Yes, you will have to think about how to make your manabase work, instead of auto-including all relevant dual lands, but that is okay.
The best thing about these lands is that... well, that they give players actual options. No longer will newer players be forced to shell out even more money in order to have decent mana; instead, these lands appeal to those who can understand the nuances of scry.
It's not the scry that people are upset about. It's the unconditional "enters tapped" on rare dual lands. I agree, scry 1 is definitely strong on a land (though we saw it previously at uncommon), but the "must come in tapped" is just plain bad. It's not like you can even search them out by searching for a relevant land type of the land.

because a DUAL land with Scry 1 should be common... right.... not.
also THE duals of the set are ALWAYS rare.... so what did you expect. these lands are great, and you have no idea.

You know, for a set designed with modern in mind, it seems like they have no firm grasp on what kinds of lands are acceptable in that format... Justs adds another bulletpoint on my "WotC has no idea how to run Modern" argument... lol

u will see how good these lands will be trust me.
its just so damn good to scry 1 especialy early game, for free after you played a land to smooth out your draws.
even if they come into play tapped.

Are you nuts?
That's like saying Walk the Aeons is better than Time Walk.

To those people, I ask... how many colors did New Benalia produce? And now you know why these are rare.
WotC, please hire me already.

These are the best duals since the fetchlands.
Possibly better, but only time will tell with that.

I mean, New Benalia has seen play, and these are strictly better than that is.
I'm thinking that Wizards knows more than we do about how powerful these are going to be.
