The price of Thoughtseize is going to drop quite precipitously.
Snapcaster Mage is a good precedent of a non-mythic card that's used widely across multiple formats. It never rose above $30, and mostly sat around $20-$25. In addition, Snapcaster was a brand new card, while TS has an existing supply already out there, meaning many older players don't need to get them.
Of course, the overall quality of THS will also have an impact. If THS sells as well as, say, RTR did, Thoughtseize will be $12 or less. If it sells more like M14, it could be $30. But more likely, it'll be between the extremes and it'll be $20.
The end price of the original TS is pretty unpredictable at the moment, since It'll depend heavily on what art is used for the THS version.
If it's the same art, I expect a very *small* unimpressive premium for the original. If it's not the same, and the new art is widely considered "better" (ala Goyf in MM), the old version might actually end up being worse less, although that's unlikely. Of course, if the new art sucks, then the old version could command a pretty steep premium, possibly even as much as an 100% markup. (Like some of the original shocklands do.)
Finally, on Foils... Foil versions are unlikely to drop much, if at all. And in a year or two, they will have more then recovered any drop. Foil original shocklands *rose* in price after their reprinting, and Foil MT Mutavault didn't drop much after M14. (And likely wouldn't have dropped at all if different art had been used.)

Not true. They sell for about the exact same on eBay, if you check the complete listings. MM Bobs actually sell for a little more than the old school ones.
This won't be the case with Theros thoughtseize though, even if the art is in higher demand, due to the Theros print run being way higher than MM print run.
I can only imagine a lot of players being pissed at a Thoughtseize reprint. It seems like Wizards won't let a card reach astronomical prices in Modern, especially at rare. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but I can understand some players being "mad" at losing a lot of value.

When I hit my 3000 post mark, I'm gone for good.
Stay reasonable, be mindful of your expectations and don't feed the trolls.
---------------------------------------
The new lands are a cycle total of 10, with 5 in Theros, and the other 5 between Born of the Gods and Journy Into Nyx. There is a very similar land with these in functionality: H____ D____
---------------------------------------
Halimar Depths is the only land I know of that is HD
I can confirm this. They do, in fact, function similarly to Halimar Depths, though in a much more balanced fashion that can (and has been) used by all colors. In my opinion their power level is on par if not better than the M10 buddy lands, though not so much for color fixing because of the whole ETB tapped thing.

I'm likely to lose a lot of value on the ones I just acquired, and for that reason if no other I'm hoping for new art to at least allow me to retain some more of that original value.
But when you buy or trade for cards you're assuming an inherent risk that the value of the cards you receive will fall. In fact, oftentimes you're trading specifically for cards whose values you believe will rise, and it seems pretty childish to not accept the risk along with the reward. Of course, if people wanted to grow up and acknowledge that risk, the Reserved List wouldn't exist.
I'm glad it's being reprinted, even if I lose value. I'll gain it back in it making the format I play more accessible and healthier.

I wdon't think it will drop that much, maybe in the $20 range give or take, it is still a staple card across multiple formats, and when I say multiple its all formats even 1 on 1 commander. But the price drop will be huge from a $60 to a $20 is saying something. If its effect on standard is big then the demand will increase greatly across all formats. Also there will be some players who will be keeping multiple playsets say 1 set for modern another for legacy and another for standard.
Although I already have TS, I wont mind buying a foil playset of these once theros comes out.

They definitely won't be using the old artwork featuring faeries in Theros...you know...because faeries.
Black-based control is at a high point in standard in large part thanks to Mutilate being a 4 mana sweeper. Lack of such a sweeper post rotation will relegate black to either a) be the secondary/tertiary color of a deck, or b) be based in an aggro shell. Sorry to say that Thoughtseize won't be pushing black based control on its own anytime soon.
Sadly I have to agree with this, maybe we'll get something new at theros as a black sweeper, of not then I have to relegate to go jund or esper in standard

I really hope chained to the rocks doesn't say enchant (specific basic land type), or if it does that it's plains. I don't like the thought of not being able to play a good monowhite card in a monowhite deck.
How can Thoughtseize be confirmed when we're being told it's in by the same person who, 2 days ago, told us that it's not in?

One source said "its in the block" but later specified "it is in either theros or born of the gods" (not sure why they would say this, its a weird statement)
A different source confirmed that it is in theros, the mod posted to relay what this other source confirmed.
I mean honestly, why are we questioning known sources on here?

Even if he is, I'm not. I've never made such predictions and I'd like to know why we're calling this confirmed. It just doesn't make sense to give such credibility to someone with 5 posts and no evidence.

Since when is he a known source here? He's got 5 bloody posts. Look at his profile.
Edit: To be clear, I'm not calling fake. I just want to see some evidence. Or something that indicates Trollcreature knows at all what he's talking about.

Sigh... Did you read the thread? Trollcreature anounced Medomai's name before it was mentioned in the Planeswalker's guide. The guy obviously has sources.

Yes, but then he called the ability after Maro basically told us what it was? That's the part I'm skeptical about.
Just because he got one name right doesn't constitute enough proof that he has anything else right. It just seems wrong to put it in the spoiler this early.
I feel like we, as a community, have been jumping the gun quite badly as of late. We're putting things in the spoiler far before we even know the proper wording (see Polukranos).
When did we lose our standards for credibility and correctness? I'm not saying move these threads out of the rumor mill (because they are, in fact, decent rumors), but why are they in the spoiler. I feel like we're just using the Spoiler as the condensed version of the Rumor Mill, when we should be using it for actual reasonably confirmed things.
You will be shocked when you cast it too :D:thumbsup:

Core sets and reprint sets are the only ones that reuse arts.
