I am hoping that black gets a few more good cards from Theros that we can move this deck to a creature-based discard strategy. I am particularly liking the cards Rescue from the Underworld, Whip of Erebos and Gray Merchant of Asphodel. The deck could be made of at least 8 sorcery-based discard and the others being creature-based. This will give a turn 1 play which is crucial for discard to work, then the creatures will get played to add more board pressure. Even if the creatures are dealt with, you can bring them back with whip or rescue. I have added Gray Merchant in because it is possible to have a high devotion value and the possibility of having two enter the battlefield from playing Rescue.
As for Denz, the whole concept is just a touch unfocused, you really have to appreciate that Raven's Crime is truly the best card in the deck and should be a 4 of.
i still haven't test raven's crime enough to feel it working as a 4 of.
What part of the deck looks unfocused?

As anyone tested Nazumi Shortfang? Essentially another rack and have thought about that every time we are both in top deck mode and I am just waiting for one of my 8 racks.
I've been playing this deck in modern for a time and nezumi is very, very slow.
I used it in a legacy mbc, but when Shrieking Affliction was printed nezumi lost all interest. You don't wan't to pay 2 and wait another turn to flip it :S. It's so much better to start damaging since the card hits the battlefield, and Shr. Affl. is gold in that spot.
Thanks for that. It just seemed to me (not an expert at all) that this is a slow deck anyway, and in testing it just seemed that I was always waiting for another rack or affliction to show up.

Deathrite Shaman fills that role just as well. It also helps to combat the grave based decks. That being said you do get the bonus of attacking for 3 damage. 1 or 2 might be okay if you have a flex spot.

In case I didn't tell you, I don't care about your opinion I just want your facts. And not the facts that make you seem smart. I want the ones that are actual facts.

What decklist are you using now btw? I saw you weren't running Lily, something I've been trying to avoid because she too often gets burned or attacked

I've got Enchanted Boggles in my meta and I'm having a rough time with it. I'm running the mono black list w/Muta currently but i'm wondering if I need to be splashing red to increase the chances of winning.

Geth's Verdict and Lili really help with that match. If they sacrifice the critter it doesn't return to battlefield even if it has umbras on it.

They board in Leyline and Suppression field so both of those cards aren't going to get it done. my play is usually Smallpox, even then you have to hope they don't have a fetch land to go grab Dryad Arbor. I play the deck on the side and almost never lose to 8Rack.

Really? I've not had too much problem with Bogle. In fact in 2 different dailies where I got prizes I beat Bogle.
Still, the leyline could be problematic, ensnaring bridge is likely to be a big key to victory in that situation. Arent there any non targeted sacrifice spells?

Well keep in mind that I am not simply playing others lists. I actively try to improve lists. Bridge is now a known quantity in Modern and therefore decks like Bogles are packing the correct hate in the board.
Non targeted spells would be Smallpox, Death Cloud and Barter in Blood. And honestly if you are waiting for Barter you're most likely dead.
I see a ton of 8Rack on Cockatrice and many players either don't understand the deck yet, or are poor pilots. You give plenty of play reference to use so I really don't get the poor plays.
What are your thoughts on the newer Merfolk decks? I've found them to be 45/55 in extensive testing. They run multiple cards that remove bridge and they have a better than average clock.

Theros didn't give us much to try out for 8-rack, the only cards that I think that could be worth considering are:
Dark Betrayal B, instant: Destroy target black creature.
this card is sideboard at best.
Hero's Downfall- discussed already, may replace Dismember
Pharika's Cure BB, Instant: Pharika's Cure deals 2 damage to target creature and you gain 2 life.
Good for getting rid of small creatures and also will let you safely play Smallpox as you gain life.
Viper's Kiss B Enchantment: Enchant creature
Enchanted creature gets -1/-1 and its activated abilities can't be activated.
Good and cheap way to blank a creature, could serve as protection for you 8-rack pieces.
And that is about it, the rest are too expensive to use or makes us use a different strategy towards using creatures, so overall disappointing. If only Thoughtseize reprint was a new card, I guess we have to wait 4 months for the next set.

I think the most important question is did anything change for the current Tier 1 meta? Specifically Pod.
Call me crazy but I think the Blue god Thassa is not only playable but could be the sleeper modern card of the whole set.
The -critical- part about this card is the low casting cost at 3cc. This is what blue needs in a finisher. She is almost a planeswalker in the way she plays out. Free scrying every turn before I draw? Um yes please. Indestructible, unblockable fatty for later? Yes please.
I think if someone breaks this card you could see an influx of heavy blue control decks, possibly taking some of the meta's UWR tempo / control market share while pushing out some Tron.
Maybe I'm way off on this but I for one am looking forward to trying to abuse Thassa. The black God was a huge disappointment. I was hoping for a 3cc God with a discard ability.
I don't think that the god cards will be good in modern, decks will be packing exile enchantment cards for them.
The problem with Thassa is that blue has a hard time to make the 5 devotion needed to make it a creature. The scry is good, but is too slow for modern. Blue cannot do high level counts of spells and permanents at the same time, that is why Thassa only cost 3 mana.
Erebos is also useless, it is basically Greed at double the cost to use it. Stopping life gain is meh, if it had been a forced discard, it might have replaced Liliana.
Purphoros looks like the best god, in a ramp deck is can come out turn 2-3, then all you have to do is pump out creatures. The good thing about it is that gets around Leyline of Sanctity. I can even see somekind of combo deck with recurring zero-cost creatures.
I see a ton of 8Rack on Cockatrice and many players either don't understand the deck yet, or are poor pilots. You give plenty of play reference to use so I really don't get the poor plays.
Just for my curiosity what would be the poor plays in this kind of deck? Would I assume turn one rack!
Sorry if it seems like a silly question but I just want to learn from the experts. I have been watching the videos and they are great.
Best time to out a rack down? When they have around 2-3 cards in hand?

Oh you and your Pod fetish.
I am just curious whether any new archetypes will come out of Theros.
Still there were two really good card that slide right into Modern and those are:
Hero's Downfall and Anger of the Gods.
Some of the Weenies might find their way into Zoo style decks, but nothing game breaking.
My Modern decks:
B/R/G Living End G/R/B
G/R Tron R/G
U/W/G/R Gargageddon R/G/W/U
R/W/G Naya Burn G/W/R
