People saying it's an artifact don't remember that the last Caryatids were creatures (Carven Caryatid) or enchantment-to-creature (Opal Caryatid).
My guess? Green (possibly G/W) creature, or even enchantment creature.
That was in Ravnica, this is Theros. I highly doubt that it will enter the field as a creature. It might be an enchantment that becomes a creature, or an enchant land card.
But because a Caryatid is a type of pillar it is not unlikely for it to be an artifact. All we have is a name, so until otherwise shown, you can't rule out most of what people have said purely with what WOTC has already done.
I'm guessing a creature or a enchantment that becomes a creature. Most likely a creature though. Pretty generic name. Maybe it will just be a good card, something like a mana dork with a cantrip or something.

Buy-a-Box promo names tend to be generic - Supreme Verdict anyone? - as not to tip the set flavor off too much.
Just remembered something, this might throw a monkey wrench into things. In Greek Mythology, Caryatids were also Walnut-Tree Spirits (think of a Hamadryad or Dryad but for just specifically Walnut trees). So it could just be a standard dryad. It is one of the words in Greek myths that have a double connotation when it comes to things like this. For instance, another dryad type was the Epimeliad, who's name refers to not only Apples (they are apple tree dryads) but as well as Sheep, tying them into both.
The literal meaning of Caryatid is "maidens of Karyai", which was a city known for it's nut trees. Though we will probably see them as what we have known before, as the pillar ladies, it is very likely that we will get different types of Dryads (I am hoping for an epimeliad really bad lol). I just wanted to inform you about the fact that in greek mythology/culture that Caryatid could represent one of two things.

Calling it now: Sylvan Caryatid is Enchantment - Walnut that turns into a Creature - Walnut Dryad with defender. Walnut is a new creature type.
That, and you know what they say. If Wizards started shipping $100 bills in boosters tomorrow, people would scream and cry and whine that they were folded the wrong way.
Obviously it's just a combination of your 'enchantment into creature' ideas and is a green Enchantment Creature
More seriously, I expect it to be a dryad creature, probably with defender that loses defender. Would be interested in a Carven Caryatid reprint, but I'm not thinking it will be similar mechanically.

If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.

Opal Caryatid is what springs to mind, most probably its a creature that is only activated under conditions

Sylvan seems green but who's to say that we wont get a illusionary Caryatid or something like that?

Well it could be a direct functional reprint of Birds which removes another creature that still has the plural form when looking at the name.
They just got rid of Llanowar Elves last set mostly because of the name. This would be another version of that.
Feel free to bid on my cards here!
You see that the "enchantment turning into creature" thing is the OPAL part, not the caryatid part, right?
On topic - nice name. It would be a disappointment if the Caryatids were missing from this block.:)
Let this great clan rest in peace (2001-2011)
Hope Harpies are in this set as well, I'd GAG.

But is Carven Caryatid worth taking the BAB slot, when you could put something new and exciting?
Just FYI, that's not possible unless it's a Tribal Enchantment to Creature. You can't just attach one subtype to another non-matching subtype.
Yep!

I don't think we have the art for the card, the photo is just an example of a Caryatid.

It's the first time I noticed that it is an enchantment-creature.
Always thought it was just a dumb overcosted common.
