Okay, after tonight's episode, this cartoon is too awesome not to have its own thread. This has got to be one of the best cartoons on television.
For those who saw the movie and did not like it, I would say that this is MUCH better than the movie. Napoleon Dynamite is better suited into the cartoon medium as a 30-minute format improves the pacing of the story and animation allows for crazier plots.
I don't know about you but after the movie I actually felt like I had lost brain cells en masse. Never before while watching something on screen, be it tv, movie theater's, computer screens or any other visual medium had I felt like I did after that movie. It was like taking a step down in the IQ latter. Some points did make me laugh but on a whole the movie made me feel pretty ****ing dumb as a brick and almost everyone I talk to about it agrees with me.
Now after saying that I have to say that I have not giving the cartoon a chance largely due in part to the abomination of the movie. I will however give the show a chance on your word and see if I don't have to enroll in some serious classes to feel better about myself afterwards.

You mean much different from the movie. "crazier plots" summarizes why I never liked this show from the second I saw a commercial - it's the antithesis of the movie. It's clearly just labelled napoleon dynamite as an excuse to draw on the popularity of the movie, I'm sorry to say.
I haven't actually watched it yet but from the commercials I've seen I'm not exactly interested.

So what I gather is: it was a unique experience for you and everyone you've talked to about it. Seriously though, could it be that you just didn't have the right frame of mind while watching it? It wasn't supposed to be exciting, it wasn't supposed to seem... normal, and it wasn't supposed to seem intelligent in the typical sense of the word.
you know Feathas I think your right about it being a unique experience for me. I never really thought of it as such. After seeing the movie I kindly swore off tv for Along time, canceling my tv part of my comcast subscription and made a point to go back to school and be outside more. I had left the movie feeling like I had wasted my life up until that point. So yeah I guess it was unique and a game changing movie for me, however that doesn't change the part where I think it is in the top 5 for "Most stupid movie ever awards".

That's not what I meant. It's the same tone as the movie and the same type of humor. It's just some jokes that work for cartoons doesn't work for live action and Napoleon Dynamite was a VERY low budget movie.
For example, in the one of the episodes, the family is at a Chuck-E-Cheese's-like restaurant. Kip is a big fan of the dancing robots' CDs. Napoleon calls out Kip for being childish, dismissing the music and saying 'the band isn't even real'. When the show ends, the robots walk of the stage and say, 'Night, Kip'
This joke is reminiscent of "La Fonda" in the original Napoleon Dynamite in structure. (La Fonda turned out to be an actual dream girlfriend and not some internet scam.) The writers take something the audience largely assumes and then twists it around. The cartoon joke could never be used in the movie, however, because there are limitations to live action. This humor pervades throughout.
I haven't actually watched it yet but from the commercials I've seen I'm not exactly interested.
I watched the trailers as well and did not like them either but I have to insist that they saved the best jokes for the show.
The quality of jokes in the trailer are not representative of the quality of the jokes in the show. The show, in general, has been far superior.
This is my favorite comedy movie of all time. All of the people that say they watched the movie and hated it need to watch it again. I felt the same way after the first time I watched it. I haven't gotten to watch the TV show yet but I look forward to watching it.

I feel the same way about the movie, that it gets better the more times I watch it. The first time I thought it was lackluster.

"Virtue, Jacques, is an excellent thing. Both good people and wicked people speak highly of it..."
I on the fence to watch this. It just fills like Fox wants to try their luck at their own version Beavis and Butthead. Me for one think the show on FX can't remember the name off top my head thats in the same kind style is better for most part.

I think you are referencing FX's Archer, but I don't watch it or any of these shows.

I'm bad at magic, you're bad at magic, and Level 4 Pro Ari Lax is terrible at magic.
Yeah that it thanks man. I got done watching this weeks episode. Will say it, Unsupervised is a good show for most part. At first thought Beavis and Butthead clone, but it has it's own thing makes very special.
