Basically, you no longer have to announce triggers until they're relevant. It used to be that you had to attack with pyreheart wolf, announce trigger. If you attacked and opponent blocks with Restoration Angel and you said "trigger" you would be to late because you missed. Now that's no longer the case. The only "issue" is exalted. I honestly used to rules lawyer people on not announcing exalted triggers. Now if someone attacks with Knight of whatever and you block with a 1/1 and tell them "trade" they can say exalted and you lose your guy. Honestly, not a big deal since on modo(so called precision magic) you would be prompted by the program and never miss the trigger, so I don't mind.
LP, I'm checking your article out as well. Behind all of your swag is the brain of one of the most intelligent Magic players I've ever known. I guess that's one more thing for you to add to the wall of ego that is your Sally sig.
I can go with that. LK, you are the Mace Windu of red mages...cool, tempered logic in deliberation, but capable of just flat kicking tail when the situation warrants it.

Rancor largely makes that unnecessary. On the one hand, most of my gruul decks are playing quad bonfire. On the other hand, they play 24 lands. In the 20 land deck, I'm content with flames of the firebrand since it will be the more versatile spell the majority of the time.

And Zeman, you channel Episode II Obi-Wan...well-versed in the art of the game, but still human enough that your passion can take ascendance if you're provoked to defend your beliefs.

I want to play a game where I curve Noble into BTE into Rancor + Volcanic Strength.
At first I preferred boros, but the ridiculous explosiveness you can find in R/g makes me want to turn dude sideways and kill my opponent before they get to do anything. Good thing I have most of the cards for both.
I think boros is a better deck by virtue of minimal variance. Goodnight everyone. I'm going to chain smoke my lungs full of tar then promptly pass the **** out. Been a while since I've done the 2 hours of sleep day >_>

Good morning everyone! Yesterday has been another huge testing day: I think I've found the deck I was looking for: Gruul with a little splash of white for reckoner and SB.
I'm gonna run it during this FNM.
Also, Wizard has lied about a card: BTE is a mythic rare. We have bought 4 boxes. The number of BTE and Aurelia's Fury found was the same: 3.
I've experienced similar results in looking for most of the charms (except for Boros, interestingly enough). Orzhov and Dimir charms in particular seem scarce, but it may just be the box runs.
The mythic numbers are always a joke to me, as we always have mythics that show up in greater numbers than standard rares. M13 is a perfect example; from all I opened, I pulled 6 Hellkites and 8 stinking Nicol Bolas. Not a single Thragtusk.

I think I'll be trying out barely Naya for the next week or so too - even though running 3 color Aggro makes me a little sick to think about, it should at least give me an idea whether I like the w or g splash better.
On the off chance that I find that the 3 color version of the deck is competitive, then that's just a bonus.

redthirst is redthirst, fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse. He was the leader of the Fires of Salvation, the only clan I'm aware of to get modded off the forums so hard they made their own forums.
Degenerate? Sure. Loudmouth? You bet. Law abiding? No ****ing way.
Went 4-0 earlier on my LGS (finally!). I would have to thank the people here for the knowledge I've earned throughout the past couple of months. Check out the tourney report on our subforum for details.
Another thing, when I faced the mirror on the 2nd game. He commented "looks like it's a game of who wins the dice roll!". I said that it isn't always the case, and he rebutted with red decks win against the mirror around 80% of the time when on the play game 1. I won both games on the draw.
Also, I'm not sure if someone was referring to my deck but I heard someone talking to my opponent after I won the first match "you lost on the bad version of mono-red". Hopefully he wasn't referring to my deck.
Lastly, spoils were just 4 booster packs. Pulled a Gideon v2 on one of them.

I am passionate, yet I am logical. The fire within me burns, but I am also patient to a point. I am with the Fires of Salvation

If I am beating a dead horse here, excuse me as its been WAY TOO LONG.
What do y'all think about the future of Dos Rakis?
Seems Naya, Boros, and Gruul are the hot new thing.
I got Pnuemonia, and am sitting on the couch all day. Gonna try to catch up the past 20 pages or so if this thread.
Heya Danny--check out LK's thread on picking a splash here; his original analysis is a great comparison. Naya, Jund and Dega double-splash variants are also looking worthy of evaluation, though the mana bases may turn out to be unwieldy. I personally have been playing Dega--splashing white into Dos Rakis--and it has been powerful. We're going to have to do some serious comparative testing to see if the broader mana bases are justified by the power and versatility of the 3-color options. Within 2-color, Dos Rakis is still a power, but so is Boros. Gruul looks to be capable of being the most ultra-aggro given Saito's winning list of chaining 2-drops and Rancor. Crazy fast out of the blocks, but it may fizzle if pushed to go long game. Right now there is no clear choice; playstyle preferences are dictating splashes.
I think all the decks minus naya are worth playing right now. I wrote and article detailing my perceived strengths and weaknesses of each archetype. Granted, we've had an open since then so there's something of a metagame, but I think most of the principles are in tact. http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=484934
Edit: WTF, did I just get ninja'd on promoting myself? I live a blessed life.

LSV Reviews GTC Red
Boros Reckoner
3/4 in Constructed, 'archetype staple'
4/5 in Limited, 'would play this even if off-colour'
Hmm. Maybe it is good?

Yeah, but he was a creepy, homicidal kid. Besides, he got no respect in being devoured by that giant desert sphincter.
