Where’s Hazoret?

That's disappointing, and U/UW hardly needs more representation among planeswalkers. I'd have liked to see a full Jeskai Narset, but ah well. As long as she's cool!

Rosewater already said that Bolas is the only tri-color planeswalker in the set. Looking at how other planeswalkers are divvied out, I think she's going to be the other uncommon mono-blue planeswalker.

Just note that that doesn't necessarily mean she won't have a marked impact; Rosewater noted that Tevo would be one of the main protagonists in the novel, and he, too, is only an uncommon in the set.

Yeah, Hazoret won't make an appearance in this set, I should think, because she has no way to travel through planes, and also it would leave her people unguarded. Ilharg definitely takes the place of the red god here, and I am also curious if he's a weapon of Bolas'. Though Domri seems to be, and they do prophesy the End-Raze following Domri's ascension, so who knows?

I'm very curious to see where this set goes! Also, I really want to see Narset, and while she's not important enough to probably merit the full PW treatment like Karn and a couple of the others, I would like it if she was rare and had the full suite of powers, anyway! I hope her named card is good, and that she is in full Jeskai colors.

You know, Yanhko, i can think of 613 reasons she's not here (Geddit? Little theology joke there.), but the chief one is, she didn't die in HOU.

And from the "can slip near the top of the library instead of dying" clause, I get the feeling that Ilharg is taking Hazoret's place. Makes me wonder if Ilharg was a weapon of Bolas's all this time...

Hazoret is still alive and on Amonkhet, protecting the few surviving peoples there on their journey through the terrible deserts.

really sad though to see the effects of this card
litteraly every card in the set so far would have profited if eternal armeis weren't 1 creature.
it's like they made that decision last minute (and i do mean last minute right before the code hit the printers)

If you read the articles they've published about the set- Amass started as going wide, not deep. Problem was it was too powerful and wasn't balanced against the rest of the set or the rest of Standard. So no, it wasn't a last minute change. Like every other mechanic it was carefully playtested and altered only as needed to make a fun and fair gameplay.

Personally, I don't think Bontu needs the help of a zombie army, not in Standard. Footlight Fiend, , Gutterbones, Teysa Karlov and afterlife, Mayhem Devil, Cruel Celebrant just to name a few cards that have great synergy with this new Bontu. Honestly, I agree with WotC: giving cards like this a huge army of expendables would be too strong.

Plus, honestly, I like amass. Now that we've seen a lot of different amass cards I think it's shaping up to be quite the versatile mechanic.

oh god I just realized you can sacrifice ANY permanent. Guess Bontu here has a place in my Lord Windgrace deck. To my Gitrog Monster brethren: Rejoice!

Reprocess with a body. It's okay, but it doesn't feel overpowered.

(Well, you can't sacrifice Hatching Plans with Reprocess, so there's that.)

Also sacs Demonic Pact for you. At a bare minimum, it's a color pie break, since black can't get rid of (its own) enchantments so easily.

reprocess on a cost efficient body is nice. I love how this card works with mayhem devil in standard, also.

And I just lost a bet today

My brother was really thinking the Amonkhet Gods would be in. I didn't think so, originally the bet was a deckbox or Oketra but he upped it to all of the A-Gods or a Fat Pack. Now I'm negotiating for one (not the most expensive one) and Sphere of Safety.

What was the bet?
