Yeah, I'll be honest...I'm not sure this is even Limited fodder.

I mean, Artifact lifegain can be good. Aetherflux Reservoir is one more expensive, but you get the same ticking and the reward for getting the damn thing online is a devastating finisher.

Braidwood Cup costs the same to play and is better for the first three activations.

Fountain of Youth is better in pretty much every way for incremental lifegain and mana-outlet purposes.

Strictly better than Marble Chalice, at least. Wait, Devotion, dammit. Anyway, Pristine Talisman is probably better, since it gives you mana right away instead of taking your mana in exchange for giving you more life later. And Staff of Domination is worse in the lifegain aspect but does so. Many. other things that it really doesn't compare.

Maybe if you play blue or red (those colors don't typically have life gain in them) you might play this as a colorless source of life gain. I have an EDH life gain deck but I think even that deck would pass on this but at the same time you can't have to high of expectations of a common artifact. I will admit I am hard pressed to think of a situation where this is good but I have played worst cards than this in drafts as my 23rd card.

Lifegain defensive draft deck here I come. The durdle will be real.
