Unless you're running cards that look for Humans and/or Soldiers and/or white creatures, Dungeon Geists is usually going to be better. One extra toughness, and the creature doesn't untap at all while the Geists are around. Admittedly a Doom Blade or the like on the turn the Geists are summoned can prevent the lockdown from really occurring, unlike the Patrol's unequivocal one-turn lockdown. Hence the "usually".
