Commentary
While we standarly only cover cards that are from the set proper, thus excluding cards from planeswalker decks, welcome decks, and the like, I would be remiss if I did not take an opportunity to talk about Core Set 2019 welcome deck's Llanowar Elves. This card has been seeing some crazy movement, with the average listing jumping daily between $5 and $20. Market price is listed at $3.77, but you're unlikely to find that price reliably anywhere. Ebay listings have seen many $20-$25 buy-it-nows, and TCGMid has been hovering near $10 for the last few days. Although rare versions of our quintessential elf have always fetched a strong price, the reasoning here lacks a strong foundation. Scarcity is a factor, but this version is not exceptional, offering only a symbol difference from Dominaria's version. The recent Open House Promo is definitely a much more extravagant version, and it has remained under $10 for months. The hype price won't disappear entirely, but it should definitely come down. I can only say "should" because, well... crazy people are crazy. Regardless, we're at a super high markup and selling now is the safe bet.

Commentary
Dominaria's top movers are all red, as the set goes further down the spiral. We've dropped past $65 at this point. Constituent estimates agree, and it bodes very poorly for this set's life in Standard. At this point, boxes that contain a Karn still have strong odds of being a net loss. We're now in a position that we need either a strong foil or at least two of the top mythics in order to net an actual profit. As a huge fan of the set itself, I'm having a hard time finding any redeeming quality in it's financial aspects.

Commentary
Ghalta is this week's biggest winner, across all sets. Green Stompy is, of course, the main culprit. Of note, Ghalta is also attached to Sarkhan's Unsealing decks that have been brewing since Core 2019's prerelease. The odds are aren't great for the deck, but it did place first at an MTGO Standard Competitive League recently. Regardless of odds, the low cost of the namesake and key cards are worth watching. If the deck even gets a decent casual following, the 50¢ price attached Unsealing and many of it's key cards could easily double or triple in price. Real profits are to be made by investing in quantity, which makes this a good target for low level investors. Risk is low, and investment scales to meet your budget.

Commentary
Vraska's Contempt has become the all-star removal card of the format, with another 8% leap this week. Be careful with long-term investments here, however, as it has very little to offer the eternal formats. Standard is the most volatile format, with a massive shift undoubtedly coming in three months. With Contempt's value solely resting on its use in Standard, long term risk is high.

Commentary
Hour of Devastation doesn't want to fade into the night quietly, offering us a week of solid gains across the board. Most of these movements are attached to the same decks we've mentioned before, with Crested Sunmare being the exception. Crestmare rises because of Core 2019's Resplendent Angel. The abilities are most complimentary, and while they might only have a few months together, they've promised to make the most of what fleeting moments still exist. Interest and card appreciation can be a fickle beast, so I wouldn't be surprised if this union creates a newfound love for Sunmare that carries it beyond rotation as a popular Commander card.

Commentary
Fetid Pools rises with color shifts, as UBx has become a popular choice. It's a safe bet that Guilds of Ravnica will bring a strong set of dual lands with it, but the cycling lands are key for now. Although Fetid Pools is the only card to see significant growth, all of the cycling lands have gained ground this week. The bicycles can be a good fifth choice in Commander, but are otherwise budget cards not worthy of eternal price tags.

Commentary
For the first time in a while, Invocations has failed to post a gain, staying stagnant this week. Much of the set's market price has caught up with the buyouts of months past, but average listing still exceeds market price by over 30%. This gives us plenty of room for growth, and it seems Invocations simply had a random soft week.

Commentary
Disallow, Metallic Mimic, and Fatal Push all post the best earnings this week, and all are eternal-worthy cards. Each had begun to slump from the impending rotation, and eternal players seized their opportunity. We'll most likely see some ebb-and-flows over the next few weeks, as rotation-fervor and favorable buys go back and forth. Whichever side you might be on, you'll have to be patient and vigilant to catch your moment and get the most out of your endeavor.

Commentary
This is one of the most unstable moments in Standard. The card pool is as big as it ever gets, a new set was just released, and over half of the cards in the format have a fast-approaching expiration date. Kaladesh's table is a direct reflection of this, with small gains and losses across the board. The safe bet is to stay out of the turmoil and focus only on what has staying power - the cards that can have a life outside of standard.

Commentary
Inventions followed Invocations, posting a rise in value small enough to be considered stagnant. Inventions has a much smaller average listing over market, with only an 11% difference. This gives a less direct verdict of short term growth, but there are a number of factors here. The price tags here almost twice what we see in Invocations, the set is 7 months older, and the Inventions buyouts happened well before they spread to Invocations. We are approaching the point where the market has fully caught up with the buyout madness, although that says nothing for the years to come.
Parting Thoughts...
As I commented above, we're at a most precarious time in Standard. A breakout deck now could crumble in three months, and the community knows it. I've seen many already trying to brew decks that are rotation-proof, but don't be fooled into thinking they're anything but hopeful wishes of the future. When rotation actually happens, a new set will comes with it, and that can change everything. Unless that set is completely lackluster, what we think we know about our future Standard is but a dream contingent. Stick with the cards that are sure to continue through any format ruffle, and put down only what you're not afraid to lose on the "rotation-proof" gambles.
