Welcome to The Magic Market Index. This article series documents the price changes of cards currently in print. This article will track how cards go from release to its time out of Standard, and as long as deemed necessary for non-Standard sets, as well as offer insight into what cards to invest in and what to ignore. The Magic market is a dangerous place, and this article is here to help guide players and speculators through the murky waters to greater returns.
This article will be updated once a week, usually on Thursday. Currently, this article series is tracking Battle for Zendikar Block (Oath of the Gatewatch and Battle for Zendikar), Shadows over Innistrad Block (Shadows over Innistrad and Eldritch Moon) and the Kaladesh Block (Kaladesh and Kaladesh Inventions). There are no current plans to track any promo sets, pack foils, or non-set releases. Otherwise, if it can be opened in a pack, it will be covered.

Noxious Gearhulk was the only Invention to see major change, with a solid 30% drop. Its previous spike was substantial enough that this seems to be a more of a market correction than a strong trend.
Outside of that Gearhulk, the rest of the set remains strong, and has registered only a 2% average decline. That's less then half the drop that Kaladesh experienced, which rests the Inventions in a very secure spot. |

Summary Dismissal has been slowing inching up for three months straight, but has recently seen a sharp enough increase to let it hit this table. Dismissal is seeing sideboard use even in builds that don't want it main deck. I don't foresee it falling back off this table for a while.

Overall Summary
Overall, the market remains about where it was last week, with stagnation setting in for the older sets, Noxious Gearhulk's Invention version cooling off from its unexplained double-up last week, and Selfless Spirit continuing its rise to the top as more decks pick it up.
Cards to Look Out For
Saheeli Rai is the centerpiece for combo decks in both Modern and Standard formats. If those decks take off, she certainly will too. Thing in the Ice had a strong spike with its Pro Tour showing, but didn't take off as much as it could have. If it remains a staple in multiple builds, it may well spike again. Selfless Spirit continues to see play in multiple decks, and continues to spike accordingly. If you don't have a playset of it, buy them now or risk paying $15 each in a couple weeks.
