Welcome to the Magic Market Index. This article series documents the price changes of cards currently in print. This article will track how cards go from release to its time out of Standard, and as long as deemed necessary for non-Standard sets, as well as offer insight into what cards to invest in and what to ignore. The Magic market is a dangerous place, and this article is here to help guide players and speculators through the murky waters to greater returns.
This article will be updated once a week on Thursday. Currently, this article series is tracking Conspiracy 2: Take the Crown, Eternal Masters, Dragons of Tarkir, Magic Origins, Battle for Zendikar Block (Oath of the Gatewatch, Battle for Zendikar, Zendikar Expeditions) and Shadows over Innistrad Block (Shadows over Innistrad and Eldritich Moon). There are no current plans to track any promo sets, pack foils, or non-set releases. Otherwise, if it can be opened in a pack, it will be covered.
Card prices are picked on Thursday morning from TCG Player mid price, the price used by many for trading cards for cards. Going by the selling price involves whether to go by Ebay, TCG Player low, Star City Games, or another vendor. It is just simpler and cleaner to go by the trade value of TCG Player mid. Comments about cards are the opinions of the author, and should not be taken as facts or divine intervention. That said, comments and predictions are based on data and experience, not on idle speculation or an attempt to move certain cards. Cards that are worth $2.00 USD or more will be on the list. If a card is worth $1.99 or less, it will not appear on the list even if it was on the previous week.
Next week will be a bit of a soft break for the Magic Market Index . The article will be posted with just the numbers and no commentary. This is to be a week off to recover from writing three articles while still providing data many users use. That means no predictions or reviews of any cards, decks, or sets. The Magic Market Index will be back in full on September 8th.
This will be the last week with Eternal Masters. There will be a review of the outgoing set to come out later this weekend.

Overall Summary
The state of the Magic market is losing value but otherwise healthy.
Since there were no big Standard events, there was no real potential for any big shakeup in Standard. Standard is actually healthy when Bant Company does not show up in force. There are a lot of great decks that stand a reasonable chance of topping even a Grand Prix. Bant Company is not dominating the meta, but it is the top dog in the ring.
Conspiracy 2: Take the Crown came out today. Hopefully you have a good time playing it if you are into that, and you should try it out at least once. It is not for everyone, but you need to experience it. Cards to Watch
Previously, these were predicted to spike:
Fevered Visions: It was not recorded now much it was at the time, but it is now at $1.99, so that seems good enough.
Lumbering Falls (1.50): It actually went down a penny. There was not too much for any of the Bant cards, so most likely a decline in getting Bant cards creates a lowering of the price.
Sylvan Advocate: It went down instead of up. It most likely due to eh down value of Standard and not indicudla card performance.
