Welcome to the Magic Market Index. This article series documents the price changes of cards currently in print. This article will track how cards go from release to its time out of Standard, and as long as deemed necessary for non-Standard sets, as well as offer insight into what cards to invest in and what to ignore. The Magic market is a dangerous place, and this article is here to help guide players and speculators through the murky waters to greater returns.
This article will be updated once a week on Thursday. Currently, this article series is tracking Eternal Masters, Dragons of Tarkir, Magic Origins, Battle for Zendikar Block (Oath of the Gatewatch, Battle for Zendikar, Zendikar Expeditions) and Shadows over Innistrad Block (Shadows over Innistrad and Eldritich Moon). There are no current plans to track any promo sets, pack foils, or non-set releases. Otherwise, if it can be opened in a pack, it will be covered.
Card prices are picked on Thursday morning from TCG Player mid price, the price used by many for trading cards for cards. Going by the selling price involves whether to go by Ebay, TCG Player low, Star City Games, or another vendor. It is just simpler and cleaner to go by the trade value of TCG Player mid. Comments about cards are the opinions of the author, and should not be taken as facts or divine intervention. That said, comments and predictions are based on data and experience, not on idle speculation or an attempt to move certain cards. Cards that are worth $2.00 USD or more will be on the list. If a card is worth $1.99 or less, it will not appear on the list even if it was on the previous week.

Overall Summary
The state of the Magic market is strong and healthy.
The Pro Tour did not fail to deliver some new decks and some interesting spins on decks. Bant Company was dethroned, but it has not gone into the shadows. Temur Emerge was the splashiest deck to come out and GB delirium the most solid. Bant Company only had one top eight, piloted by a very (un)lucky player. The top eight had five different decks total and many competitive decks outside of the top eight, which leads to a very healthy format. And that means a healthy card market not centered around a few cards, but rather a lot of different cards. Green is the main color of the week, and will probably be so for a while.
Conspiracy 2: Take the Crown previews will be starting soon and take up most of the attention until Kaladesh previews start. Conspiracy 2: Take the Crown is a fifty-fifty split of reprints and new cards, which leads to the speculation of what will be reprinted. Most likely, named places like Rishadan Port will not be reprinted, but there is a chance for other great cards that were not reprinted in Eternal Masters. An interesting reprint target will be the enemy fetchlands, which will be a lot of people's number one pick for reprint. Only time will tell, and that time starts soon.
Oath of the Gatewatch and Shadows over Innistrad all had good weeks in value increase. Eldritch Moon had some nice increases, but it had a lot of drops in value. Eternal Masters dropped like expected, and Battle for Zendikar is still a disappointment. Magic Origins and Dragons of Tarkir are dropping like it is to be expect for sets gearing up to rotate. Now is the time to sell or trade the Standard-only cards you are not going to use before they lose all value. There will be a set over view of those card close to the release of Kaladesh. If you want to buy packs, Shadows over Innistrad, Eldritch Moon and Oath of the Gatewatch are all good targets. It is better if you play formats outside of Standard to wait to see what Conspiracy 2: Take the Crown has.

After the next article, Eternal Masters will drop from the list and an exit review will be done for it.
