This article will be updated once a week on Thursdays. Currently, this article series is tracking Khans of Tarkir Block (Khans of Tarkir, Fate Reforged, and Dragons of Tarkir), Magic Origins, and Battle for Zendikar Block (Oath of the Gatewatch, Battle for Zendikar, Zendikar Expeditions). Go after the the fetches then the shocklands, then the filterlands. Wasteland and Horizon Canopy are the only other lands to really consider, as the others have fringe interest. |

Set Summary
This set is becoming interesting. Narset Transcendent is starting to making an uptick, with much means someone is trying to make UW control work. The set is still falling overall, but hopefully it will go up with the rotation of Standard.
Noting that Kolaghan's Command may see a small dip in value because if madness becomes a thing, the discard option might weaken the demand to play that, although B/R aggro looks to be a thing. |

Overall Summary
Over a hundred cards have been spoiled for Shadows over Innistrad and the set looks good. The four planeswalkers are all good, but not overpowering. There are several deck ideas already floating out there. The B/R Vampire deck looks very strong, and there does look like a decent zombie deck will be made, but the jury is still out if Risen Executioner is any good. If you can get a playset for cheap or definitely want to get a zombie tribal deck, do it. Otherwise, just wait. Avoid the preorders so far as none of the cards seem worth what it being asked of them. Especially Thing in the ice.

Posted Mar 20, 2016Den Protector is going to b ea solid card in the next Standard block. Whether or not it will go up or down is too early for me decide with more than half of Shadows over Innstrad not revealed yet. Right now, UW control, GR Werewolfs, and B(R) aggro seem to be the decks to build right now. Collected Company as deck only loses its mana base and disdainful stroke, so there is that. based on what I think so far, the format is going to be faster than the Oath of the Gatewatch Standard, but not so fast that Den Protector is too slow to play.
In short, I think it is worth having if you need it, but I do not think it will spike unless something major is revealed in SoI or the meta shifts in a way that was not predicted.
