This article will track how cards go from release to its time out of Standard, and as long as deemed necessary for non-Standard sets, as well as offer insight into what cards to invest in and what to ignore. The Magic market is a dangerous place, and this article is here to help guide players and speculators through the murky waters to greater returns.
This article will be updated once a week on now on Thursdays. This will give time to let the market adapt to changes in the meta and the market, as well as being late enough in the week that it is not completely unreliable prior to going into the Magic: the Gathering weekend events.
Currently, this article series is tracking Khans of Tarkir Block (Khans of Tarkir, Fate Reforged, and Dragons of Tarkir), Magic Origins, and Battle for Zendikar Block (Oath of the Gatewatch, Battle for Zendikar, Zendikar Expeditions). Set Summary
It seems the demand for Expeditions is wavering. Most of the lands are losing value. That does not mean they are really slipping, just that currently there is little demand. Do not panic or mass sell (if that is possible) as all that will do is drive the value down further. Supply is limited enough that it could only take a few playsets moving to influence values. |

Set Summary
The real winner of Pro Tour Oath of the Gatewatch was the Eldrazi thanks to the set with the same name as the Pro Tour. Several pros have deemed this block influential to Modern, and it's on the list for Top 8 of Channel Fireball's Wednesday show, and it is mostly in the "smaller" Eldrazi like Thought-Knot Seer and Eldrazi Mimic driving this influence.
In sad news, the Kraken has seeped into the depths of value. Hopefully it will comes back. That card needs to make its big splash in Standard. |

Set Summary
The set is taking its lumps as expected. However, it seems the market has completely recovered from the disaster of the Expeditions and is acting as expected. Oblivion Sower is a card on the short list of card that will go up with the next set. The reason is format will slow down and ramping out will be really good. A lot of the best fast cards will leave. That does not mean there will be a fast deck, but the landfall and red combo decks will be gone. |

Set Summary
Jace, Vryn's Prodigy continues to be confounding. What is the ceiling on this card, or does it even have one? Could it be the first card since Jace the Mind Sculptor to reach $100.00 while in Standard? At this point, it is not completely unreasonable. The rest of the set is doing reasonable with Shivan Reef really coming up. The other pain lands are ticking up, so they could end up here if there decks end up doing well. |

Set Summary
It is funny how the two big sets in Khans Block are domainted by their rares, and not their mythics.
Kolaghan's Command is quite the card, and will continue to be best Command, maybe even better than Cryptic Command. Do not get rid of your Kolaghan's Command unless they are extras. This will be one of the lasting cards from this set, along with Collected Company. Both rares from these set are worth speculating on with the next Standard when Shadows of Innistrad comes out. |

Set Summary
The fetchlands are all up, but it is too up and down to call it a solid trend.The rest of the set is doing well for coming onto its end.
I really had to delve hard to find a time that Dig Through Time was not on the list, which was only at the beginning of the set. This card could be worth going after if you have any thoughts of it get unbanned in Modern or Legacy. It does not seem likely, but if it does happen, that is a lot of value that investor will gain. It is quite an investment. |

Overall Summary
Pro Tour Oath of the Gatewatch really showcased the Eldrazi. There is a little humor in a set about defeating the Eldrazi in that Eldrazi dominated aside from the Affinity deck. This led to a big spike in several cards in Battle for Zendikar block, mostly in the Eldrazi cards like Endless One and Eldrazi Mimic. Other good cards were confirmed good, like Thought-Knot Seer and Reality Smasher.

Any Eldrazi card is worth looking at that can be cast with Eye of Ugin and Eldrazi Temple as long it is not a long term investment because the deck will get touched by the banlist by the next set provided a meta solution is not found
Drowner of Hope (1.67): This card will be around $3-4. Picking up foils and the intro deck is not bad if you can get it at a decent price.
Yavimaya Coast (1.16): This pain land in particular has the feel to rise. Just a feeling. All of the others have a decent chance of rising, so go after them now if they are needed or you want to speculate on them.
Cards to Avoid
Anything in Khans of Tarkir and Fate Reforged that is not actively needed for a deck. This is the time most Standard players are going to try and dump their non-essential cards from those sets to get some money out of them. If you do not need them, do not go after them. If you can get a decent price for cards that see play regularly in Modern or Eternal formats, go for it.
Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet: This card is running too hot right with the people who speculated on this are looking to cash out. Better to wait then go after them, unless that infamous caveat that if you need them for decks.
Eldrazi mimic: While running good right now, this card can easily be reduced by a lot of its value when the Eldrazi deck is touched by the banlist. Even disregarding that, this card will nto go up much further unless the Eldrazi deck featuring this card starts dominating Standard, which seems unlikely. If you go this cheap, now is the time to unload. If not, then sit back and wait.

Posted Feb 11, 2016To be honest, I am not entirely sure. If there is a future reprint, to which I believe is coming, it could drop the Expeditions, but I seriously doubt it. It might knock off twenty percent at the most in my opinion. Polluted Delta is currently at 270 and it has a recent printing. Reprinted enemy fetches should not affect the demand in a significant enough amount, and thus price, of the expeditions.
In short, I would feel safe in the value of the expedition staying the same or going up for the foreseeable future.
