This article series documents the price changes of cards in print. We will track how cards go from release to its time out of print. We're currently tracking nine sets: Theros Block (Theros, Born of the Gods, and Journey into Nyx), Khans of Tarkir Block (Khans of Tarkir, Fate Reforged, and Dragons of Tarkir), Magic 2015, Magic Origins, and Modern Masters 2015 Edition. A Standard set runs as long as it's Standard-legal, whereas non-Standard sets will be run as for as long as deemed necessary.
This will be updated every Monday and Friday. The Monday update will follow the Magic events on the weekend to see price changes as a result, while the Friday update will track any changes before the next series of events. The prices come from TCG Player’s median, tracking cards valued at $2.00 USD and up.

Set summary The best walker in the set is Hangarback Walker, although Jace, Liliana, and Nissa are worth more. Jace is proving to hold his own, and saw some play in Modern Grixis Delver. This may not be an auto-include, but it does prove that people are seriously considering the flip walkers for Modern. Legacy seems too much of a stretch to hope for, but he might find a home. Jace at least is food for Force of Will. People are starting to seer away from Nissa, but she will awaken on the scene again. Evolutionary Leap might see some play in various Elf decks, so it might be a worthy investment. |

Set summary Modern Masters 2015 continues the downward trend. The rise in Emrakul might have to do with the Evolutionary Leap deck making some waves at the Star City Games Open Invitational in Charlotte, NC. It is not clear when the cards will start going up, although though an educated guess would be a few weeks before the next Modern Pro Tour. |

Set summary Dragons of Tarkir is starting to see an uptick, but only after a few more updates will we be able to determine if this is the rise that is expected after a set is no longer drafted. Now is the time to start picking up the staples you were missing. Dromoka's Command, despite seeing a reprint, is one of the cards to look at be a Standard all-star. Kolaghan's and Atarka's Commands will be good long-term investments too. The two planeswalkers will not likely see much play unless U/W control and Temur Midrange see a major rise for Battle for Zendikar. There is probably not a sleeping giant investment with either, but that does not mean it is not a loss waiting to happen. |

Set summary With the fake spoilers of the enemy fetchlands in Commander 2015 products, the prices of the allied fetches are only going to go up without another set of fetches entering Standard. The big investment of this set will be the uncommons, like Murderous Cut, Abzan Charm, the tri-lands, foil refuge lands if no good mana fixing is printed in Battle for Zendikar, and Heir of the Wilds. Defintely pore over the commons and uncommons because that is where the long term value is in this set, along with the fetches. This set is probably the best long term investment set since Return to Ravnica. |

Set summary Theros is trying hard to not fade into obscurity and it doing a fine job at avoiding that fate. Theros, and Theros Block on the whole, has some long term investment potential both competitive and casual, with a few having both. If Esper Control takes a spot in Modern, Ashiok seems like a decent win condition, though U/B based decks already have better finishers. |

Overall Summary
Theros block does continue to gain value where it did not seem like it should, but the gains are not too significant. Most likely the start of long term investment. Khans block is at the right time to speculate as the cards are starting to go up and people are excited to see what Battle for Zendikar has in store for the Magic community. Magic Origins is being looked for it what it offers to Modern, and the pro deck builder no doubt are turning through some. With Worlds coming up, there will no doubt be some new deck tech coming that may see some spike.

Posted Aug 25, 2015The layout here is absolutely terrible. The bordered tables with default fonts look like they're from 1998 and are unreadable at a glance. Why cram the most pertinent information onto the side of each group? Putting it above or below the table would allow for more horizontal space, which would move the data closer to the column headings and make at least that better. But the information hierarchy here is non-existent.
And why not spell out what each column is describing? "Change since last week" and "Change since launch" would be a huge improvement.

Posted Aug 31, 2015Thank you for your criticisms. I have taken them into account and working on some improvements. I agree that I am not fan of the layout, but that is more a fault of editing software not working with how I want it to look and unable to find something I liked, worked, and got the information. I believe with the newest update, it looks a lot better.
The conversations leaving was sad, but that was not an issue with the article series itself. Whenever something changes, there will always be strife and some people do not like the new system. I am working on something to try and counteract that, but I am not been successful such far. I do hope that changes.
