Introduction:
Happy Halloween to all of you budget Legacy players! Are you ready for the spookiest holiday of all...?

Decks:

Deck Name: Nauseous Grace
Deck Type: Combo
Cost: $150

Ready to get sick? Presenting the Nauseous Grace combo deck. Combining Ad Nauseam and Angel's Grace makes for freaky fun as you draw your entire deck while eluding death itself. Or, perhaps, by slipping into undeath itself. We're not sure.

Key Interactions-
Ad Nauseam + Angel's Grace
Cunning Wish + Ad Nauseam or Angel's Grace
Sickening Dreams + Angel's Grace

Nauseous Grace is like a storm deck that doesn't win by storm. You have all the same mana accelerators, protection, and digging, but no Tendrils of Agony and no need to build up spell counts. Instead, the deck simply wins through a two-card combo, which it digs for and accelerates into, much like Omni-Tell or Cephalid Breakfast. After casting Angel's Grace you can follow up with Ad Nauseam. Because the loss of life is not a cost but an effect from revealing cards, you can use it to draw your entire deck without having to stop. Just like in Omni-Tell, you put your entire deck into your hand. From here, simply use your mana rocks and rituals to cast Sickening Dreams, which will kill your opponent but not you, thanks again to Angel's Grace.

Finding the combo is easier than turning into a zombie. (If you've ever watched a zombie movie, you know how easy that really is.) Ponder and Preordain should be no surprise to you. Peer Through Depths may not be as common, but it's nice because it digs deeper and finds everything you need it to find. Finally, we have Cunning Wish. A little costly for combo decks, but the card does pretty much everything we want it to do. Both Ad Nauseam and Angel's Grace can be found through Wish, and you can also grab protection before you combo off, as well as a bounce to get rid of anything that might hinder your win. Check below for the specific suggestions for a Wish selection.

Acceleration is typical too. Dark Ritual and Cabal Ritual both make earlier Ad Nauseam casting possible. Lotus Petal is much the same, but gives us much-needed non-black colored mana. This colored mana can work towards casting your Grace, or even your protection spells. Finally, ards like Duress and Silence are perfect for a combo deck like this, as you either get perfect information on whether or not it's okay to go off, or make it so it doesn't matter what your opponent has. Pact of Negation is risky, but a free counter spell in a mana-hungry deck is as useful as a shotgun in a room full of zombies.

Sideboard Suggestions-
Using Cunning Wish means much of your sideboard will be a Wish board. You will already have two slots being occupied by your two combo pieces (Ad Nauseam and Angel's Grace). Typically, you will also want the option to Wish for protection the turn before you go off. Cards like Silence and Pact of Negation are perfect for this and would work well against a control deck. Bounce spells like Echoing Truth and Chain of Vapor can clear the field of hate permanents like Arcane Laboratory. Slaughter Pact is another piece of great tech that can kill hate bears or save you from lethal attacks (such as zombie bites) for a turn.

As far as boarding in actual cards goes, additional discard will help against control and combo decks. Cabal Therapy is my preferred choice, but there are others. Because you have access to all five colors, you have a lot of options for every match up. Red gives you Pyroblast and Pyroclasm, Green gives you Xantid Swarm, Krosan Grip and friends, Black gives you spot removal and discard as mentioned, Blue gives you additional counter magic and white gives you Silence or Leyline of Sanctity. You're really only limited by your imagination here.

Deck Name: Black Plague
Deck Type: Control
Cost: $205

The infection is spreading. This is not the lightning-fast yet fragile spread we have seen before. No, this infection is different. Slow, yet impossible to kill. This is the Black Plague.

Key Interactions-
Discard + Surgical Extraction
Runechanter's Pike + Infect Creatures
Liliana of the Veil + Runechanter's Pike or Unearth

This Mono Black Control Infect deck wouldn't make for a very scary movie, because it doesn't try to kill everything as soon as possible. Instead, it is based more on the idea that Phyrexian Crusader is really hard to deal with. When Swords to Plowshares and Lightning Bolt don't kill you, what does? If you answered "Abrupt Decay" then you didn't see the three copies of Unearth that this deck plays.

Our primary means of spreading the infection is Phyrexian Crusader. However, because one can not place the burden entirely on one soul, we have made sure to gather a few other followers to the cause, as well as tools of the trade to help them spread the infection. Most of these tools should be familiar to you, as they are core cards we have seen a thousand times before. Duress and Inquisition of Kozilek are your one-drop discard spells, included for early attacks on the mind, decreasing preparedness and thus increasing risk of infection. If the only spell that can kill your Crusader is a two-cost instant, picking it out of your opponent's mind turn-one is a good idea. Our people have developed a Hymn to Tourach that has a similar effect on our victims, and seems to be exceedingly powerful at times. Many attempt to remove the infection, or the sound of our Hymns, through violent means. This however, is nothing a little Surgical Extraction cannot squelch. If we can remove any possible threat to the infection completely from the minds of our victims, then there is nothing left but death.

There are those that our infection cannot kill as quickly as it should. For them we have other means of ... silence. Smothering through different means has proven to be an effective way to kill most of the creatures you will come into contact with. Becoming a Victim of Night is a dark and terrible way to leave this world. Our most recent spell, Darkblast, is a spell that can be re-cast to your desire. There are some that it will not kill, but others that it will be exceptional at crushing.

Our Crusaders would be nothing if we asked them to go into battle without a weapon. Runechanter's Pike and Umezawa's Jitte are exceptional tools of battle that will sing the song of death for those we force to listen. These equips can also be handed off to a Plague Stinger, or even Inkmoth Nexus, who both handle them well via evasive manoeuvres. Both Crusader and Stinger can come back thanks to Unearth, which means that even death itself will not cease the spread of the infection.

Sideboard Suggestions-
Someone attempted to stop your plague? Prevent it, with Cabal Therapy and Inquisition of Kozilek! Our crusaders are strong, so most attempts at stopping them will be futile—but should things come to it, consider our Engineered Plagues, who will Mutilate all who stand against the black death! This leaves Virtue's Ruin, which gives those who still live but one option: Perish.

Deck Name: Dark Depths
Deck Type: Combo / Control
Cost: $250

For eighty thousand years, Pth'thya-l'yi had lived in Y'ha-nthlei, and thither she had gone back after Obed Marsh was dead. Y'ha-nthlei was not destroyed when the upper-earth men shot death into the sea. It was hurt, but not destroyed. The Deep Ones could never be destroyed, even though the palaeogean magic of the forgotten Old Ones might sometimes check them. For the present they would rest; but some day, if they remembered, they would rise again for the tribute Great Cthulhu craved.

Key Interactions-
Dark Depths + Vampire Hexmage or Thespian's Stage
Grove of the Burnwillows + Punishing Fire
Crop Rotation + Sejiri Steppe
Into the North + Dark Depths
Grim Discovery + Vampire Hexmage and Dark Depths

There are two tributes worthy enough to cause the rise of the great Cthulhu. A Vampire Hexmage is what is most traditional. Her blood is thick that it may sink deeper than the Dark Depths, melting the ice and waking the dark lord. There is another way though, a new way: the old ones have told us of a ceremony. A Thespian's Stage as the setting, combined with the palaeogean magic in the Dark Depths, will surely cause the fall of the weak scourge that is the race of upper-earth men.

Bringing together the required objects of ceremony can be done a number of ways. The Necronomicon tells of Expedition Maps that will lead to proper grounds Into the North. Crop Rotation methods and Sylvan Scrying are also effective in calling the great Cthulhu. The Grim Discovery can negate failure, and allow for additional attempts at triumph.

The Punishing Fire of our dark lord, when allowed to burn through the Burnwillows, will stay alight forever on, cleansing the world of those who are not worthy. Should their numbers grow too large, there is nothing a Pyroclasm cannot wipe away. Pithing Needle will protect the sacred grounds from becoming Wastelands, or our order of Dagon from falling victim to planeswalkers. Even the legendary land Karakas will be reduced to nothing under the needle. The Steely Resolve of our order will prove to be unwavering, and our dark lord invincible.

Stupendous and unheard-of splendors await me below, and I shall seek them soon. Ia-R'lyehl Cihuiha flgagnl id Ia! We shall swim out to that brooding reef in the sea and dive down through black abysses to Cyclopean and many-columned Y'ha-nthlei, and in that lair of the Deep Ones we shall dwell amidst wonder and glory for ever.

Sideboard Suggestions-
Those who would attempt to quell our fury before the Old Ones rise can be crushed with Duress, Cabal Therapy, or similar spells. Additional Pithing Needles can help as well. Our Ancient Grudge and Krosan Grip can rid the world of contraptions put together by the upper-world men, and killing magic can rid the world of them men themselves.

Conclusion:
Until next time, try not to die of zombie feasting, plague infection, or by any maddening reincarnations of ageless and horrifying sea beasts.
