To celebrate the new MTGSalvation site going well and truly live, we're hosting a Theros giveaway! To participate, just post here in the comment section telling us about your favorite Magic card!
The Rules of the Giveaway
- Each winner will get 6 Theros booster packs.
- We will randomly draw 15 winners from those who participate.
- For legal reasons, we are only able to ship to the following countries: US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany and the UK. If you do not have a delivery address in one of these countries, you will not be able to win the giveaway.
- Each user may only enter once. Multiple posts on the same account will count as one entry. Those caught entering more than once using multiple accounts will be disqualified.
- If you don't name your favorite Magic card, we won't know if you're explicitly entering the giveaway or not, so we won't be able to take your comment as an entry into the giveaway.
- Staff members (moderators, global moderators & administrators) are welcome to post their favourite Magic card, but they won't be entered into the giveaway.
The giveaway will end on the 10th February at 5PM CST, just 7 days from now!
I used to run it in a mono-green legacy deck that would tear the pants off most other legacy decks, despite those decks being many times more valuable than my own. Creature generation on an enchantment - yes please!
Also, it was my first foil card.
When I was 12 years old, I decided it was time to grow up and transition from "kiddy" Pokemon to Magic: The Gathering, where all the cool kids play (lulz).
I get my first intro into Magic buying the "Heavy Duty" theme deck in Invasion, rush home to crack it and play against myself for hours.
I go up to my LGS on my bike that Saturday to play in a casual tournament with my awesome new deck. I lost my first 4 matches 0-2. On my very last match I managed to get an Armadillo Cloak on my Charging Troll and I guess my opponent couldn't do anything about it. I lost that match but won one game, on the wings of Armadillo Cloak. I took a closer look at the art, and got so wide-eyed. The LGS owner knew me, as I'd been coming in for a long time playing Pokemon. I guess he saw me in my child-like admiration stupor, and gave me a foil Armadillo Cloak, forever solidifying my love for this game.
When I was 17 I still had this card, in a sleeve on my desk. Living in the Bible-belt, it soon made it to my youth minister that I played Magic. She then flamed my mother about how this game is the devil and the only course of action is to burn these cards. Of course I got "the talk" from my angry mother about misleading her, and she made me burn my cards in the trashcan outside. I ran to my room insanely upset, grabbed a handful of cards, and grabbed my foil Armadillo Cloak the LGS owner had given me, and threw them under my bed, and brought out the rest of my stuff. It was a sad day for me. With all of that, the Armadillo Cloak still sits in a sleeve, today, on my computer desk.
That is why Armadillo Cloak is my favorite Magic card.
A close second is Psychosis Crawler!
....yeah I'm that guy.
Who doesn't love drawing extra cards? Plus, it has some nostalgic purposes for me.
Fireball led to some of the craziest wins I've ever had in multiplayer magic. I remember being in junior high and forking a 10 point fireball to kill 2 people, out of nowhere. I've built multiple decks in different eras of magic's history that utilized fireball as finishers, a 5-color Bringer/cloudpost deck and a R/G Rampaging Baloth deck spring to mind.
I love the flexibility, the power, and the name. It's a Fireball. I win.
